Lately I've been pretty upset with how I did the last years years of high school. I'm a junior and I took school seriously, just not as seriously as I should have.

I currently go to a competitive school (its a magnet school, ranked 2nd in my state, and 80 in the nation). I have currently taken 10 honors and 1 AP last year (got a 5 on my AP Human Geography Exam) and 2 this year, I might take 3 more next year.. But here's where I'm worried about getting into some of my top dream colleges. My grades weren't as good as they should have been the past two years. I currently have an overall GPA of an 85. Not sure where that is on the 4.0 scale. Could be a 3.0, could be lower, could be higher, but I know its not even close to the average GPA of my dream colleges. I'm also in the SGA and Green Club, and I'm joining a new Democrats and Liberals Club this year. If I keep my grades up high enough, I hope to also join Beta Club or NHS.

Umm I haven't taken the SAT so far or the ACT, but I'm aiming for AT LEAST a 2100 on the SAT. I am also African-American and a first generation college student. I know other things count towards getting accepted, but if I get all A's this year and raise my GPA up at least by .3 points (or more if I can) could I get into one of these colleges?
