State- California
School- Very Competitive Public
Ethnicity- Asian
Gender- Female
Strengths- EC, community service,
Weakness- GPA

Probably the best chances I have seen!

@JPruneski8 thanks for your response! I’ve having a crisis with my GPA, but I’m really hoping that everything else collectively will help me through.

I have NEVER seen so many qualifications! This resume kept getting better and better as I read on. You have an extremely excellent shot at Duke in addition to an excellent shot at HYPS too! Chance back please?

@conservativearts Thanks so much! I will chance you back soon!

bump

The only thing detracting from my confidence in your admission is the fact that you felt the need to post this.

@dukeblue11 You are very kind, thank you!

bump

really sorry for riding @leannatorres‌ but i noticed you had the national institute of health summer internship down. I’m also looking into that and if you wouldn’t mind, could you tell me when in high school you did that and a guesstimate on how tough the selection process is or what type of qualifications you had prior to applying?

Of course, I’ll message you and you can ask me any questions you have!

You 90% will get into Duke! You academics in school are sort of on the weak side, but your involvement in science and CS will show. Also the fact that you took Duke Tip increases your chances by a lot actually!! Good luck!

@leannatorres‌:
Have you spent time reading through the “Decision” threads in the Duke CC forum, where those accepted and rejected from previous years post their profile and Duke’s decision?

@tryhardalay Thanks for your feedback!
@jpm50 I have, but I haven’t seen many applicants with the vocal music thing going on, so I was wondering how strong my EC’s actually were and how they would factor into the process.

@leannatorres:
With Duke’s acceptance rate down in the 10% range, no one can predict how much your vocal music background will help.

You have a lot going for you, so definitely do apply. But as with applying to any competitive school, be sure your safety school applications get done.

For anyone through College Confidential, I was actually rejected from Duke in the ED round. Not what I had expected, but hey, that’s life for ya. On to my RD schools, hoping for better results!

Duke’s loss
