CAN I GET INTO DUKE OR UVA OR WILLIAM AND MARY OR GEORGETOWN?
I am currently a Junior so any advice will be helpful!

are you in state Virginia? If not, getting into WM or uva will be challenging. If you’re instate you’re probably a match/high match. Georgetown and Duke you’re a low reach simply because Georgetown and Duke are reach schools for everyone.

However, like I said multiple times now, once you reach that level of scores, you can’t expect and acceptance. Duke (and Georgetown) are very very selective.

CAN you get in is very different from WILL you get in, which is what jibler is trying to point out. There are way too many people as qualified and more qualified than you are who also want to get in. The school cannot accept everyone who is qualified, so a lot comes down to luck.

You’re definitely on the right track. With my first post, I clearly said what the “problem” is with your application in regards to Duke – your SAT score (it’s good, but not up to Duke’s standards)

Don’t worry too much about your sat with uva and wm. My score was much lower than yours and I was accepted to both in state. Although my gpa was higher and I had slightly more leadership. Essentially you need to have something that will make you stick out from other applicants. Be that an incredible essay or incredible EC’s or whatever, make sure you have something that will make you stand out from the other applicants. If the dean of admissions for your area goes home and remembers your specific essay or your app in general, then you’ve done a good job and stand a chance.

I started my own organization and I have 3 leadership roles. I also volunteer a lot and spent two weeks in Jamaica over the summer volunteering. Is this not enough for EC’s? Any feedback would be great!
