Can I get into Emory ED1?

Hello Everyone,

I really want to go to Emory University and was wondering if I could get in during ED1. Before I post my stats, I wanted to mention that I am currently a junior and had some pretty serious complications these last three years. I was having serious health issues during my freshman year and finally had to miss half of my sophomore year when I got diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. During my Junior Year, I missed another half year due to health complications, but I am moving to a place that will make me feel 100%. Anyway, any feedback would be great and would really appreciate it.

Stats:
UW GPA: 3.63
ACT: 28

Total AP’s: 6 by the end of senior year

Extracurriculars:

  1. 8 week marketing internship
  2. 8 week engineering internship
  3. 3 month Pediatrician shadowing
  4. Writing a patent under my name and will finish soon
  5. 360 hours of animal shelter volunteering
    Recommendation:
My recommendations from my teachers and counselor will be good or even great.
    Essays:
I know my essays will be great since I have written practice college essays and my AP Lang teacher loved them.

So, I was wondering if I have a chance to make it into Emory University ED1 for business. Please be honest, thank you.

P.S. I am also moving to Florida and am Asian-Indian.

Your stats are somewhat low for Emory. Get both your ACT and GPA up and you’ll stand a better chance.

Hi, thanks for replying, I can probably get only a 3.67 at most since I have missed so much school and wasn’t able to perform as high as I could since I have missed nearly a year worth of school as well as adjusting to my new lifestyle with treatments. I will mostly likely get a 3.9-4 unweighted GPA senior year and I will be aiming for a 30 on my ACT. I don’t how much it counts, but my whole high school career has been affected by this and my GPA has suffered.

You would stand a good chance if you get the ACT and GPA up.

I would work on getting the test score up to be competitive for Emory. I think you will have a solid chance if you get a 30+ on the ACT and have some good essays to go with your application. Make sure to keep your doors open just in case Emory doesn’t work out!
