Whoo... sorry that was a lot but I'm nervous out of my mind... oh and I' trying to decide whether to decide whether to apply here or Dartmouth early so if that could be taken into account

I’m pretty sure you’d get in Georgetown.

Yeah you have excellent chances at Georgetown and still very good chances at Dartmouth. Dartmouth has ED and Georgetown has EA, but I think you should visit or at least research both schools A LOT before jumping into a binding decision (Dart). I’ve visited both and they have very different vibes, locations, focuses, strengths, and weaknesses.

Thanks guys. Yeah I’m leaning towards applying EA to Gtown becasue it is not binding and I feel like that is the best fit for me, but I know how much more competitive the School of Foreign Service is than the other schools under the Georgetown penumbra, so I’m worried I won’t get in

How good are your xc times. Are you a recruited athlete. Probably not for G-Town since they were top 5 at NCAAs but Dartmouth definitely is possible

I doubt that I’m good enough to be recruited, like high 16 minutes for the 5K, just barely enough to be All state, etc.

That’s quite a solid resume. It seems like Georgetown is solid, but I’m not sure how much more difficult applying EA is.

40 hrs/week + all of your other ECs? Damn impressive. Enjoy Georgetown or Dartmouth.

Thanks for the input everyone, if y’all have chance threads too I would love to return the favor

high 16 minutes is all state for you guys? wow! for us it is 14:50 for 3 miles so like 15:30 5k just for 25th place (the last all state spot)

Hah yeah I’m in a small league in SC so it’s not that hard

Well I never really chanced you so I will. I think youll probably get into Georgetown I would be suprised if you did not especially early action or whatever they have. Dartmouth you might be a recruited athlete for, but if your not I would apply regular decision as alot of the early ones are athletes and it could hurt you. I would say you have a good shot getting in there as well though.

yeah i think you have a more decent shot.
however, when you say that the SFS is more competetive than the other schools, you are wrong (i thought the same thing originally). In fact, the College is more competetive than the SFS by a percent and a half. (17% and 18% respectively I think).
Either way, you are an excellent candidate and I think youre in at both schools.

Yeah, I guess I just assumed that because the SFS is what Georgetown is really known for that it would be more competitive than the other schools, that’s interesting. Well with all of that information, especially what mcfly said about the recruited athletes in ED I think I will definitely be applying EA to Gtown, thanks for all of the input, and any additional thoughts would be appreciated. I would also love tp chance y’all back so if you have a thread just post it.

I’ll be applying EA to Georgetown as well so good luck! Hopefully see you there in 2010!

Definitely! Hah I’m just ready for the whole college application process to begin

I think Georgetown is a good possibility.

Are we to believe that you attend school , work 40 hours a week , run track (All State Cross Country ??), are in the school play and participate in student council, spanish club , poetry club , peer leadership , community service and managed a 4.7 weighted gpa while taking 9 AP classes.
I would guess there is a bit of exageration on your resume.Adcoms will also be skeptical.
I suspect that the original post was submitted as the Winner of School Short Fiction Contest in grade 11…

If this is true , apply to Harvard!!!

Why would I bother posting something that is not true? I’m looking for my chances, not the chances of some imaginary person. I think I should point out that the 9 AP classes are for m entire high schol career, that equates to just over 2 a year, not that momentous of a task. I also explained (maybe on a ifferent post) that 40 hours means only a few hours a day on weekdays, like only 2 or 3, and then long shifts on the weekend, also not that difficult. All of the clubs and awards will also be backe up by my counselor so I have no reason to believe that this will come under speculation with adcoms either (I should note that many of those clubs do not take up that much of my time, I listed them because I have leadership positions within them). I hope that answers your questions, Brave Ulysses.

I am most likely applying to Georgetown 2015. Don’t know if it will be SFS or College, but most likely EA.
