Can I Get into Georgia Tech Atlanta With the Following Stats:

(I am an International student.)
I'm currently 15 Years old, I'll be 16 next March.

Grades 9-11 GPA UW: 3.7
Current Grade 12 Average: 93.5

SAT Scores:
Math:730
Critical Reading: 580
Writing: 550
(I took the SAT again yesterday, and am pretty sure that i did better)

Will be taking SAT Math Subject Test Level 1+2 on December.

IB Classes: IB Computer Science SL, IB English HL, IB Math HL, IB Chemistry SL, IB History HL, IB Spanish SL.

EC's:

Captain of the Varsity Table Tennis+(very likely to be the MVP), Defender of Varsity Soccer(Football) team. Might Join Varsity Chess Team.

MUN Member, Photography Club, ex member of Geek Squad

Did Service with mentally challenged children, Worked in a company during grades 10+11 summer vacations. Volunteered at Learning 2.008 Conference for around 15 hours. Volunteered for an Organization in Shanghai in which I had to sort clothes that had been collected for donation for around 5 hours. Spent around 6 hours with people who had down syndrome for service. Finally managed the lighting of the school theater for a concert.

Thank You for Your Time.

I am little confusing.

Did you skip two grades earlier on? Or do you plan to skip senior year?

Ga Tech do have program for high school who is junior, but the requirement is 2000+ SAT.

Also, is financial aids a concern for you? Ga Tech costs $38,000 and no financial aids for international.

If you have all the required units of the various subjects, I’d say you have a fighting chance assuming your SAT goes up a bit.

What country are you from, and what is your native language?

@jim1980: I skipped 2 years earlier on. Financial Aid is not a concern.
@ G.P. Burdell: I am from India. My native language would be English.

If my critical reading score increases then can i get into Georgia Tech?

you will definitely get in, I know some kids here who have lower scores than you.

I don’t recommend you coming to GT though if you are international. The quality of classes here can probably be found at good schools where you live. I am an out of stater and I’m contemplating transferring back to an in-state school, because personally, I don’t think it is worth the out of state tuition, which is continuously increasing.

It’s just my personal opinion though

So someone who is not from India, and who has not taken classes outside of Tech is telling someone from India that all schools have the same quality of classes, including those in India?

The grass is always greener, I guess…

I know some people like that, as well. They’re called athletes.

So someone who is not from India, and who has not taken classes outside of Tech is telling someone from India that all schools have the same quality of classes, including those in India?

I took several classes at michigan state university, a fairly good college, as a senior and during the summer before going to GT…so I do know what I am saying. You are right about me not having studied in India though, but I’m sure their top engineering school would be comparable to Tech because India has a large tech industry.

Anyways, it is just my personal opinion as I already stated.

Your current SAT score is not “bad,” although it is slightly on the [lower end](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board). Even so, in these times, as a full-paying international student, I think the admissions office would be hard pressed to say “no.” Your course load is very challenging, and your extracurriculars are fine.

I’m under the impression that the number of Indian native English speakers is only about 0.02**%** of the Indian population. Out of curiosity, are you Anglo-Indian? (That has no bearing on your admissions, of course.)

I should point out that the reason I asked if English is your native language (I probably should have termed it “first language”) is because your Math score is good, but your CR score is low for GT. If your first language is not English, then the admissions office is more willing to accept lower CR and writing scores (it is inherently more difficult for someone to write in essay in a second language than a first - even if the person is fluent in the second language). Thae bottom quartile in CR for Tech is almost exclusively international students and athletes.

You took freshman classes at Michigan State and at GT and are comparing them. Wait until you reach the engineering classes. As someone who has attended 4 colleges (and not just a few classes in high school - entire programs), I can tell you there is a difference.
