The second semester of my freshman year I had an English professor that absolutely hated me. I’m a psychology major and from the get go she made it clear that she didn’t believe it was a real science and hated everyone that was in the major. Unfortunately, I couldn’t change the course to take it with another professor because that was the only available course that would fit in with my required courses. On one of my essay I never finished my citation for my opening sentence, so obviously it was tagged for plagiarism. I tried to explain to her it was an honest mistake, but she reported it to the Dean of Student Conduct anyway. So now I have a plagiarism mark on my permanent record. I was wondering if this will affect my ability to get into a grad school? I’m not going to try and hide what happened, but I still want to know if it will make it impossible for me to get into a graduate school…
Maybe you can talk to your counselor to direct you to someone at your school who can maybe have it removed? If that doesn’t work, when you send in your graduate school applications, there might be a section where you can additional comments about your record or maybe send in a letter to the school you’re applying to talking about how it was a misunderstanding and an honest mistake.
Wishing for the best!
I don’t see how they would add it to your transcript.
Ask for an unofficial student copy, so that you can see what’s on it.
My college transcript is coded and lists courses, sections, professors’ last names and total amount of credits.
In the comments sections, it shows degrees completed.
The transcript tries to stay to 1 page.
Find a good professor who will vouch for you with a letter of recommendation. That LOR, along with any psych EC’s, should work in your favor.
