Can I get into Harvard?

Freshman year was not a good year for me. My unweighted gpa was a 3.2 on the 4.0. The percentile was 87. Weighted it was 3.5. 90 percentile. However next year( sophmore year) I'm really going to try and I'm taking the hardedst classes possible. I can easily have a high A (above 95) in each class if I do my work and I will.I'm also in my schools College Mentorship Program with chooses the top 10 students with the highest PSAT scores. So did I miss up my HYP dreams by being a dumb 14 year old or do I still have a chance. Thanks :)

You still have a chance of course but it’s a lower chance than it would have been if you had done well your first year. The majority of Harvard applicants have near-perfect grades all 4 years and most of them still get rejected.

Your freshmen year might have impacted your chances but I wouldn’t say that it’s impossible. You still have a couple years ahead of you, make sure you use it well and perhaps you might even wind up going to an Ivy in the future.

You might also want to get some extracurriculars among your general academics - they look at that as well.
