Isn’t it already past the deadline?
If you are trying for Fall 2016 class. I think you are late. Even if you have time to apply you score is like everyone else. In order to apply to college like Harvard you need show something special. What they look for is 1. you can complete with the rest of the student academically, which I think you can do. 2. You need to show something special such a something you are passionate about and performed at highest level (state, national, international) based on the resources you had at your disposal. In other words you have gone on and beyond what other have done. Again with all these there is no guarantee you can get into Harvard.
Hasn’t the deadline passed?
You’d be a good candidate, but it’s impossible to chance for the Ivies.
sorry, im a junior.
@nusayucamo If you really got a 2270 on the SAT, then you must have scored at least 670 on writing. The lack of proper capitalization and correct grammar suggests otherwise. This isn’t a chat room.
What does “average of A or more mean?”
If you are legitimate and really are serious about Harvard, do realize that it takes much more than grades and test scores.
- You do not average the SAT subject tests. The scores are reported individually.
- What is your unweighted GPA?
- Academically you look like a qualified applicant, but what makes you special? Extra Curricular activities, awards, special talents. This is what will set you apart.
- Harvard is a Reach for every applicant so it is impossible to chance anyone. All you can do is apply and for the best.
1104 service hours
Dude…did you seriously added them up?
I thought a reasonable normal person would just say “1000+ hours” instead of “1104. yes, the 4 part”
Not to judge, but the saying “I averaged 764 on all subject tests” is pretty funny
Idk if I’m doing the math right, but all subject test scores end with “0,” like 670, 750, 800. So getting a last digit of “4” means that you either took 5 subject tests or 10.
That’s really impressive
Frankly, probably not.
17 ap classes before senior year?!?!?!?!? My school only offers 8 aps as a freshman, sophomore, and junior! Heads up, after 10 aps, it isn’t really a big difference. What is your ranking, clubs, leadership, etc?
@neophite I still don’t know if OP is legitimate.
Nobody on CC is qualified to chance people for Harvard. Your scores are high enough that you won’t be thrown in the reject pile immediately. But what makes you special? Why should Harvard pick you out of the many candidates with equally stellar stats and grades and service hours?
Why?
@StudiousMaximus I wouldn’t say NO ONE is qualified… if you ask a friend in your history class of his honest opinion of a history essay you wrote, he isn’t the teacher, but he is pretty close. We actually tried this; when we did peer revisions and grading before teacher grading, the peer and teacher grades given were within 4% of each other. Similarly, although there are no (or a small percentage of) “teachers” here, fellow students who know the trends of the teacher and how they* grade can come pretty damn close.
*They was made grammatically correct to use in the singular as a replacement of “he/she”. Another thing to remember for the SATs!
@MITer94 I understand why you say that, but OP could have something spectacular stored up his sleeve that even he is unaware of. On graphs and data tables though, he will fall to the bottom 30% of the list.
@nusayucamo info plz?
Harvard looks for applicants who are unique. Everyone is more than just their grades – how do you stand out from the rest of the academically-strong candidates? Is there one thing that you particularly excel at?
When the time comes, be sure to write a unique essay. Just remember that Harvard is extremely competitive, so it’s hard to say for sure what will happen. Good luck with everything!
@neophite Quite possibly, but judging from OP’s (only) two posts, there were several things that left me unsure as to whether he is legitimate.
@nusayucamo Can you answer the questions given by neophite and other posters?
