I already got an interview at Harvard. I plan to be a Cardio Vascular Surgeon and perhaps go into politics. I know my grades are low. Not even close to my potential. I also got accepted into an honors selective medical program this year. Only 18 of 60 applicants get in. Instead of a regular senior year, do rotations in a local hospital and take classes like medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, college english, health economics, and law. I then go back to my home school at the end of the day to take AP Chem.

Btw for almost every single one of the ECs listed, I have been involved for 4 years. So i have been committed to these for a while. I am aware that Harvard gives interviews to everyone, but I am specifying that I did indeed apply there and fro many schools of the likes of Harvard. When I say what are my chances, I mean what are your personal opinions as to the likeliness of my acceptance to the institution. As in good chance, reach, un;likely, ur in, safety… those types of answers. Obviously there is no template for the perfect JHU student.

Please answer. I’ll chance back

I saw your most recent post and you said you have a 93 GPA which is NOT a 4.0. It doesn’t work like that. You said you have a 3.7, so that’s a 3.7. I’m not trying to be mean, but that’s a big difference. That matters a lot.

thanks papertowns57. Actually if you check the college board website and almost any other resource for GPA conversion a 93 is indeed considered to be a 4.0. Of course it is at the low end of the scale.

Your SAT is mildly low, but your EC’s really stand out. Also, I believe almost all applicants are invited for Harvard interviews, too. Good luck.

Yeah but your transcript will have what is given to you by your school. The colleges will see what is on your transcript, not what the college board website thinks

True, but the average SAT is above 2000. I know it’s hard to hear, but take it from a guy who made an 1820 and has hardly any EC’s. Your EC’s are great, so if you have the best essays you have ever seen, you should, actually, stand a good chance.

Thanks potatoman90, also yeah ik harvard does. It’s in my original statement. And yes papertown57, the transcript given to me by my school is a 93. My school, just like college board and almost every other conversion chart, considers it to be a 4.0.

I’d say its a low reach. Did you take any subject tests? It would be worth mentioning those. Any way, its great that you have taken classes related to medicine. The rec from a state senator is really cool too. If only SAT was a little higher, but I think you definitely have a decent shot and really can make it in. Thanks for chancing me by the way :)

JHU: Low Reach
