I’m a junior from North Carolina, assuming I get a 2000 on my SAT (my goal, 1st time taking it I got a 1720), finish with a GPA of about 3.5-4.0, roughly 6 APs give or take, and heavy involvement in extracurriculars including theatre, improv, a capella, and starting my own club, can I get into Kenyon early decision?
My S got in ED with 3.5, 2190 SAT’s( 760V) and similar EC’s. Although he had won some national theater awards, and was heavily involved with theater for many, many years. Kenyon is all about fit. I would definitely visit and interview because I think the interview was HUGE in my S’s acceptance. Also, get in touch with your Kenyon admissions rep from your area, and send in any additional theater LOR’s and resume. My S actually sent in a DVD of some of his work. All of this will give you a leg up… as well as ED, but really, fit is numero uno.

I applied ED 2 and was accepted woot woot! My gpa was 4.0 unweighted and 4.2 weighted I took mostly honors classes throughout high school and 2 AP (that’s all that was offered at my school) class rank 2. My SAT was below the norm by a decent amount . I am heavily involved in extracurricular in and out of school. I had an alumni interview and contacted my regional admissions counselor to further express my love for Kenyon and what a great “fit” I think it will be. I definitely agree that interviewing is key along with a great essay, interest and fit. They will overlook below norm test scores if everything else falls into place. They really do practice a " holistic" approach in admissions. They are very attentive , personal and just genuinely nice. My admissions letter recognized my essay which they seem to really like.
