Well, basically, I'm opting not to apply early decision to IV league b/c they are expensive and I don't want it to be binding, so I'll apply regular (which makes it that much harder- so might not get in).

I am, however, applying to Queens Macaulay, Maryland Honors, Binghamton honors, Stony brook honors, and a couple more...

If I get in and go to one of these (and do well), can I get into a GOOD med school even though they're not IV league (will med schools care if its honors program, or not rlly?)?

Comments? advice? personal experience? TY

Yes, you can. Honors programs have benefits but medical schools caring about them is not one of them in most cases. I went to ASU and had no trouble getting into “good” medical schools.

PS: Ivy, not IV. (NB: Source of name was when a sports reporter felt shafted that he’d been assigned to cover a game between 2 (now Ivy League) colleges. He mentioned that watching the game was “worse than watching ivy grow” and jokingly suggested Ivy League to describe them. Name stuck.)

Yale has EA, which is non-binding. Of course, it does not really help your chances of admission…and it is restrictive (you cannot apply EA to another school).

And yes, you can go to any respectable college and from there, get into a fine medical program. Medical schools care more about major, GPA and MCAT results.

Medical schools don’t care that much about major, so long as it isn’t vocational.

Do you know any doctors? Did they all go Ivy? Think not.
Your major doesn’t even have to be science, as long as you get the required pre-med classes. Must do well in rigorous classes and in MCAT and show some evidence of interest in medicine and awareness of what it entails.

“Can I get into Med school if I don’t go to ivy league?”
Of course

Absolutely! Several of the SUNYs have pretty good placement rates.

Do not do single choice early action for Yale. If you want to apply to Maryland Honors they only let people in to the honors program if they apply by today. (november 1st)

All medical schools are IV league.

apply to wherever you want to go.

just dont **** up in college

no you can’t…i gave up on my med school dreams wen i found out i was an ivy league reject at the end of my senior year in hs…
