Alright, thanks so much for the input. I'm gonna schedule a meeting with a premed adviser next week when I go back. I'll give an update then.

im in the same situation as him, but maybe im older

i just finished sophmore year and transfering into ucla as a junior applicant under architectural studies. Throughout my two years at a cc, i have never thought about doing a pre-med, so i never took any science courses. Just recently i decided i wanted to aim for this major and so when i start school this fall 07, im going to have some science classes.

Bluedevilmike (or anyone), am i too late for MCATS?

It's impossible to be too late for MCATs. You might have to delay a year, depending on how fast you can fit in the coursework.

Well, the requirements for each medical school sometimes vary slightly, but as a rule you will need one year of Biology with lab experience, two years of Chemistry with lab experience, one year of Calculus, and one year of Physics.
I do not think that you can do all that begining in junior year unless you have taken some courses before. The other problem that I see is that you will not be prepared to take the MCAT and may not do well because of the lack of science courses in your studies.

You must likely will need to go into an extra year as bdm says.

Or scramble, fit them all in in two years -- one would be impossible -- and then take the MCAT May of your senior year. Send out applications in June, spend a year working somewhere, and go to medical school one year later. Etc.

^ thanks guys

really though, for me, I don't care how long to finish my stuff. I don't care if i need to spend an extra two or 3 years in college. whether I don't get in or not, i have the satisfaction of taking the science courses. I just don't get how it's kind of frowned upon if people were delayed a year or two. For me, i love school. I just love learning. As long as MCAT doesn't have a set date where students HAVE to take it, then I'm good to go. I'll pace myself to see if i can make it at the senior year dateline. summer school, here i come again!

Actually University of Dayton DOES have a Pre-med major. It also has a Pre-Dent major.

IMO a business degree which included the pre-med courses would be great. If you cannot get into medical school, you are a scientifically literate law school or graduate business applicant. Or you can just get a good job. The recession should be over by the time you graduate. If not the only skill set of any value will include weapons training.
