Can I get into Michigan State University?

<p>I have always wanted to go to Michigan State University, but I am worried I might not get in. Here are my credentials:</p>

<p>I have a 3.25 GPA, and a 23 ACT (retake score pending). I have recommendations from teachers, a University of Michigan-Dearborn professor, and a few people in the Michigan House of Representatives. I have 100 volunteer hours. I am Captain of the Varsity Wrestling Team and on the JV Cross Country Team. I had an internship in the House of Representatives and an internship with the University of Michigan professor. I was on Student Council and received a Leadership Award, a Science Fair Honorable Mention, a Varsity Letter Award, and I am on the Honor Roll. I also have taken several honors courses and a very challenging college prep curriculm. I am also a michigan resident.</p>

<p>I know I have asked this before but my GPA went up so I am wondering if my chances improve. Also what kind of SAT score do you think I will need I think its out of 2400?</p>

<p>Most state universities admit in-state students based on grades and test scores alone (assuming you're not a recruited athlete.) Maybe it is different for Mich. St. I have no idea. </p>

<p>From the bolded parts below, it looks like your GPA is on the low end, but your ACT is about 3 points away from the average. If Mich. State looks at weighted gpa's and if you took hard classes, then this may help.</p>

<p>My advice is to work hard fall semester and try to raise your ACT score a few points. Right now you are in the bottom quarter of admitted people for the ACT and the bottom 13% for GPA.<br>

<p>Do not focus too much on one school. My D. ended up in #2 on her original list and very happy with her choice. You do not know how you would feel at particular school until you start attending.</p>
