Can i get into Penn?

<p>I plan on applying to CAS. Let me no if i have a shot and how i can improve my chances. Thanks.
Heres my stats:</p>

<p>Academics:
102 weighted average, 97 unweighted, all honors and ap
sat I: 720 math, 640 cr, 650 writing (a bit weak but am taking it two more times, this is my first) I hope to raise to 740, 670 and 700, respectively
sat IIs: chemistry 750, math 1c 680, will take math 2c and retake 1c
ranked 5/900+
National Honors Society
AP Scholar
AMC participant
Local academic olympics (one student selected to represent school in each subject every year) taken twice and won third prize for ap bio sophomore year.
National Chemistry Olympiad
Bausch and Lomb honorary science award
two years perfect attendance(not really important)
a few other little things here and there, but not too important</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
Boys volleyball team for three years
1 year of chess club
2 years of environmental club</p>

<p>ecs is where i am weakest, volleyball takes a huge amount of time out of my day, 2+ hours every day, 6 days a week for one out of two terms(4.5 months).</p>

<p>Volunteer/Work experience:</p>

<p>local hospital volunteer for three months until swine flu outbreak when i was no longer allowed bc i was too young
church volunteer
american cancer society fundraiser
newspaper boy for 2 years
Participated in Quality of Life, tried to educate public on alternative energies
numerous clean ups at local parks</p>

<p>So that covers most of it, im pretty weak in ecs, any advice? i know its kinda late now because its senior year. Please help me out and let me know what my shots are thanks!</p>

<p>You have awesome academics (ranking 5/900+!! awesome GPA)…but your SATs are a little weak…if you pull those up, you should be fine. As far as ECs are concerned…you’re fine. You don’t have very many, but the ones you do have sound quite interesting. As long as you really are dedicated to a few ECs, it’s all good. AMC participant is a bit vague…have you gotten any awards from AMC? I got honorable mention, but that’s not very good so I’m not mentioning it (I’m applying to Penn Engineering). I think you have a fair shot at Penn. Good luck!</p>

<p>hey thank you for the answer! you boosted my confidence quite a bit haha. My writing score improved 50 points on my last sat and I’m waiting for november scores so I’m hoping I went up. anyway, thanks again and good luck to you too!</p>

<p>definitely a possibility. if you want to increase your chances work on that SAT and write good essays. that is easier said than done, but you’ll stand out if you just answer the questions without trying to impress anyone.</p>
