Can I get into Purdue?

I’m currently a junior in a public high school, and I really want to go to Purdue University at West Lafayette, Indiana. I’m currently a resident of Tennessee. However, the question arises: can I get into Purdue’s engineering program? My stats are below:

*GPA: 3.95 (out of 4) UW; 4.25 (out of 5) WE
*ACT: 30 Composite; 33 English; 28 Math; 31 Reading; 27 Science; 30 Combined English/Writing
*AP: 5 Human Geography; 4 European History
*Top 5% of class
*Key Club Treasurer
*Beta Club Member
*NJROTC Officer
*Principal’s Council Member
*Student Council Member
*Governor’s School attendee (2014)
*Attended a leadership seminar in Valley Forge, PA (2013)
*App. 175 volunteer/community service hours
*Competed in East TN Scholar’s Bowl
*Employed part-time at TVA

In addition:
*I’m in two AP classes this year (US History and Language/Comp.). I’ll be taking FOUR AP’s next year: AP Psych, AP Gov’t, AP Calculus AB, and AP Lit./Comp.
*I applied for two STEM seminars this summer (one at UTK, the other at ORNL); I’m also a nominee for Boys’ State. Going to receive word soon on all three.

According to other posts on CC, Purdue engineering seems relatively easy to get into (hard to get out). Is that true? And, also, according to its admissions website, they’ll only take a single ACT w/ writing score (or SAT), right? Purdue is really an awesome school, and replies would be much appreciated. Thanks.

It would be a high match. Enrolled freshmen of 2013 have a mid 50 range of 28-32 for engineering. Admission stat should be slightly higher.

You have very high chances to get into Purdue. While it is one of the top engineering schools, it is pretty easy to get into if you have a high GPA and SAT/ACT score, which you do. However, Purdue engineering is one of the top programs in the country- and it is very difficult. So you’ll have to work extremely hard, yes the rumors are true.

Yes, it is easy to get into purdue, but sometimes you can get rejected no matter what. You have good GPA and ACT score so I will say you have a chance to get in. Good Luck!

Thanks guys! I still have a little while before I apply, so I may increase my math ACT score altogether before then. I’m also looking Virginia Tech, too.

Your ACT math score is good for purdue and for virginia tech, but if you can increase your score, then take the test again.

One of my best friends is going to Purdue next year and yours stats are significantly higher than his. You should be fine!
