I was accepted into Rutgers Pharm last year. I had a 2240 on my SAT. Writing: 800, Math: 740, Reading: 700. I would say your SAT scores are a bit low just because it’s getting more competitive every year and there are more applicants applying. Would get that up to a 2100+ Is your GPA unweighted or weighted? You have a good number of AP’s. I personally didn’t take the offer from Rutgers Pharm because I didn’t want to be according to people a “glorified drug dispenser.” I also did a lot of research in molecular bio with Rutgers so I got really sick of the school by then. I ended up deciding between 7 year medicine with NJIT/St. George and 7 year optometry with TCNJ/SUNY. I picked 7 year optometry in the end. Hope this helps.

Also li1894, can you tell me more about the path for optometry school? Is it 4 years of undergrad, then 4 years of med school, then 4 years of optometry school? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Or rather 4 years of undergrad and 4 years of opto school… no need to go to med school first; if you did, you should become an opthalmologist instead.
