Can I get into Sacramento State with a cumulative GPA UW of 3.5, and a D- in piano?

I’m a junior, and in semester 2 of my junior year I got a D- in piano. My cumulative UW GPA is a 3.5, I average As and Bs with 2 Cs, but the D- worries me. I got a 1250 on the SAT (out of 1500), but I plan on taking it again. I haven’t taken the ACT yet, but I will. Should I retake the piano course or try to somehow make it up? How do I even do that? But my primary question was whether I have a chance of getting into Sacramento State?

Does the D in piano leave you with insufficient arts courses (requirement f in the a-g requirements) completed with C or higher grades? If so, then you need to retake it or otherwise take courses to ensure fulfilling that requirement to be eligible for frosh admission to any CSU or UC.

Assuming you remedy the deficiency in arts courses and have no other subject deficiencies, note that CSU Sacramento is impacted, so it does not admit all applicants who meet CSU baseline eligibility. Unfortunately, it does not post historical admission thresholds like some other CSUs do.

Yes, you can

as long as you’ve completed all of the A-G courses, you should be ok
good luck
