I have a 3.2 gpa with a 29 on my act score. I took two AP classes and have more than 100 hours of community service. I have more than needed of their requirements and my eligibility is more than ok. Most people tell me I have a good chance
Do I have a chance?!

Where do you live? Not sure if you are aware that all Cal State schools give preference to those living within their boundaries. Last year student in my high school did not get accepted to SDSU with 3.8 GPAs. One of the reasons is that Cal State San Marcos is the school within our boundaries. SDSU is extremely competitive and hard to get into. One of the reasons is that it really is the only Cal State school that has a big sports program and is not a commuter school. That said if you are out of state you may have a better chance because California is desperate for out of state tuition. Also pls know that this year freshman were limited to 13 credits/semester so most students need at least 5 yrs to graduate

I agree with Bigbooklover. Most students I know who were accepted had at least a 3.8 unless their high school was part of the “compact” which is an agreement SDSU has with local area high schools for certain majors. One thing that is confusing is that the CSU Mentor gives “minimums” that students need in order to apply. What is confusing is that these days students need more than the “minimums” to be accepted to certain schools in the CSU system. SDSU is one such school. I’ve seen students with stats beyond the “minimums” not get into various CSU schools which frankly I found to be a huge surprise.

Also many majors are impacted and as Bigbooklove said- it takes at least 5 years to graduate and you only receive fin. aid or scholarships for 4 years. Apply to SDSU but also to some other CSU schools. I particularly like Sonoma State.

itsv is 100% correct…Cal Poly SLO is another cal state that is very hard to get into for certain majors that are impacted. Last year students with 4.0 did not get accepted to engineering school
