Can I get into Stanford?

Hi everyone! I am a senior in high school this year and my ultimate dream school is Stanford. There is no school on Earth that I love as much as this school and I wanted to know what you think my chances are. I applied early and I will hear back in 11 days, but the anticipation is killing me. So here is my info...

I am a white female and my major of interest is computer engineering. my cumulative GPA is 97 (weighted) up through my junior year. I have taken almost all honors and AP classes. i took AP World History my sophomore year, AP Physics B and AP Lang my junior year, and this year I am taking AP Spanish Lang, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, and AP Computer Science. The only B I have gotten was in Political Science my freshman year. Most of my AP classes have been high Bs, but our school gives extra points so they have become As. Class rank is 42/402 (very competitive school), my SAT superscore is 2070 (720 Math, 700 CR, and 650 Writing). I got a 660 on the Math II subject test and a 680 on the Physics subject test.

As far as extracurriculars go, I have done a lot. 4 year letterman in softball, senior captain in 12th grade. Also played JV lacrosse my freshman year. I played competitive travel softball during my freshman and sophomore year, and later joined an equestrian team, which i have been on during my junior and senior years. I have worked every summer of high school as an assistant riding instructor at a girl scout camp, and i also worked in the fast food industry for 5 months in 11th grade. I have been an active girl scout since i was 7, and earned my Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, which are the highest awards in Girl Scouting. I am a server and a reader at my church, NHS member in 12th grade (my school is new, so it was established at the end of my junior year), SALT member in 11th grade, member of a fun club called Quidditch club, and made honor roll all years of high school.

My main essay on my application was about how the girl scout camp that i work at (and also attended as a kid) impacted me as a person. Do you think my chances are good? there is only a 7% acceptance rate, but i feel like i have been very involved in a lot of different things in high school, and I can provide a new perspective to the school. What do you think?

Although your ECs are fine, your scores seem too low for Stanford. 42/402 isn’t even in the 10%, and your SAT scores are below average, even with superscore. Stanford rejects people that have your ECs with much better academics!

I just saw this on the main page and I think that it’s not our place to tell you what your chances are of getting in (because our guesses could be completely inaccurate), but since you asked: The fact that you’re in Nepal differentiates you a little bit, but quite frankly your ECs, test scores, and grades are all subpar for Stanford, so you would be in the bottom 15% or so if you got accepted. The people who get into Stanford for CS have won Intel, Siemens, etc… and if you ultimately got accepted, you would be competing against those people… so… think about what your best choice really is, rather than following the hype.

OP never mentions she is from Nepal. This is the wrong thread to post this question. What OP talks about, will not make sense to most Nepali applicants since they’re not available in Nepal.

yes. Thats right. This is wrong place

^ cool name youve got there. do you really love theoretical physics that much or are you just trying to be cool? :D

mind it. You might be talking with next feynman.

^ thats why i had the courtesy to ask. otherwise i would have stated it out flat.

im asking cause i myself am all for ASTROPHYSICS and THEORETICAL PHYSICS.

so …how deep… I mean fav books… And which nationality are you…

did she get in? anyone?

^ hahaha CS 13

honestly, that wasn’t rhetorical… :)

Yeah I’m curious now too

i did;t understand member 40 eca activities… he/she can’t be from Nepal/…

@OP: NO! You can’t get into Stanford. Now, will you apply?
