Can I get into Stanford?

I guess that is possible. As you’ve presented yourself right now you won’t get in.

First, Stanford will be most interested in what you have actually accomplished.

Beyond that it might work to present yourself as having a vision for one thing you want to do if it is focused and well thought out. But presenting a rather lengthy list of big things that you plan to do will work against you. It doesn’t look passionate, it looks like you lack to ability to channel your energies in one direction and see something through to completion.

Believe me, I work with people who are good at coming up with big ideas. One month later instead of having begun to implement their last big idea they are thinking about another big idea. In the end nothing gets accomplished.

To Pea:
I know I won’t get in by just dreaming. I will have the planned things done before I get in.
But I get your point.

And thanks on the advice on big ideas. I think you are right.

So about my current projects: do you think I should work on only one or two rather than, lets say, four(Considering that I have enough time)?

But do those ‘chance’ sites actually work? Lke myfit?

I tried myfit and it literally predicts everyone will get rejected from the top schools like harvard, so it’s completely pointless. there are other sites that do work but not myfit.

Avasar: these people are trying to help you but without test scores we really haven’t gotten much. the fact that they aren’t available isn’t your fault, but don’t snap at everyone who replies because they aren’t telling you what you want to hear. based on your ECs you could have a good chance but without knowing anything about your grades besides your saying that they’re good, no one can really give you any accurate predictions. you say your grades are ‘not the best, maybe, but good’. sorry but places like stanford tend to only take the best.
if you actually accomplish all your plans and your grades actually are great, you could have a good chance, but i really couldn’t tell you. good luck though!

Thanks. I didn’t mean to ‘snap’. Sorry for that

Listen after having read two pages of this…vague question, i have two things to say.

1) Post your grades, in w/e form they may be in, because without exceptional grades, your “passion” is like bread without yeast. And as soon as you take the SAT + SAT 2s, post them up as well. Also, study for them plz -_- Im Indian-American, and i have a few friends from India…they thought the SAT was gonna be easy…ended up gettin 1830…not bad, but no where near enough for their MIT dreams. Im not saying ur like this, but just a heads up, its hard…as far as ive seen, especially hard for internationals.

2) Stanford is in the same league as harvard (and i dont mean Ivy League). There are thousands, heck, tens of thousands of applicants who are just as “passionate” as you, with 2250+ SATs, 33+ ACTs, and 3.9+ GPAs. Dont think your that special just cause youve written a book and cause you have a list of things to build over the summer or w/e…i dont mean to be harsh, but i dont think you understand exactly how difficult it is.

O and one more thing, good luck. You’ll need it…

“There are thousands, heck, tens of thousands of applicants who are just as “passionate” as you, with 2250+ SATs, 33+ ACTs, and 3.9+ GPAs.
err, i’ve spoken with a few adcoms at very top schools lke harvard, and such.
what you said isnt exactly true

the op is clearly an outstanding applicant
i wish him/her the best of luck :)

Thank you. What did they say? Could you please explain?

It has been 7 months since you first posted with the list of what you “plan” to do. Have you accomplished any of those things yet?

By the questions you keep asking, it really sounds like you are pinning your hopes on showing the admissions committee how passionate you are. At the interview, do you plan to jump up on the table and shout “I am passionate; admit me!” ?

Hehe, no.

My wind turbine design is complete. I mean, I started out with a completely new design and guess what, it is more efficient than most of the designs of its type used over the world today. And I have authentic backup to prove it. Compared to some designs, its even 1.5 times more efficient.

This is the biggest part of my design; it is competitive in a real world. Now I will be building it, but that isn’t very difficult frankly.

I will be sending a design portfolio to Stanford. Looking at a university professor who is helping me, I think my design can say a lot.

Hopefully :)

How nice of you to keep posting even after 7 months.

Good for you! If you only have one good invention to your name, that’s more than most people!

Have you taken SAT I and IIs now? Then we can give a good chance. You sound like an interesting applicant.

Ah yes, the SATs.
SAT I=Horrible.
660 CR 700 M 600 W
Sat II=I gave it today.
Final A-level grades-A in GP Physics Biology and Maths

My wind turbine design type-VAWT(Vertical Axis Wind Turbine)
VAWT design efficiency around the world-20%-30%
My design efficiency-40%(Can be better)

This is the first wind turbine ever designed in my country. So, I am the first WT designer of my country.

Um…hello?

1960 SAT?..

I’m sorry…
but I don’t think Stanford is too much of a possibility for you. Research other schools. There’s plenty of other great ones that you qualify for!
