I took honors courses for math and science, but I have always gotten Bs rather than As. I am actually more of a humanities type of guy :p. But i want to go to stern because of its prestige. Am i better off applying for CAS instead?

hmm…That’s some problem. But still if you write great essays…you have a chance.
All the best

So do business schools generally put more emphasis on math and science grades?

Yes, I believe they are weighted more heavily than English and History scores. Especially math. You’ll rarely find a Stern student with a math SAT score below 730.

unless you’re applying for a math or science program in CAS, don’t worry about those particular grades. they’re going to look mostly at overall GPA so the A’s in your other classes will probably balance it out. why would you need to be good at science to get a business degree?

esnyujind is right, they will look at your math SAT score (which I’m guessing is kind of low if you’re not good at math?) If you’re a senior, I guess it’s too late to retake it.
You don’t need much math for a Stern degree, don’t worry…I think just Calc I and a calc based Stats course. definitely still apply for Stern if that’s what you want - you can’t get a Business degree in CAS, so why bother? you can study Econ but it’s liberal arts…although if you’re more of a humanities person, you might prefer econ in CAS to Stern.

The thing is I have a near perfect score for SAT math II and will likely get a 800 for SAT math. I have taken hard math courses over the years in high school but my grades in them were not too good…
