I am a local NJ resident
*I go to one of the best public schools in the state, I'm a junior now.
*GPA is 3.3... I know kind of sucks
* My current SAT score is 1610, but I'm taking SATS in March and again in October Senior Year and hope to get my score up at minimum to 1700
* I have a wide range of extra curriculars and volunteer work
*Major in business

my gpa freshmen year- 2.94
my gpa sophomore year- 3.0
this year (junior year)- 3.6

i've significantly improved my grades,,,,what else can I dooooo??!?!?!?

I'm still a junior and this is my dream college, and I want to do anything I can do to get in senior year,

i plan to make this college "early decision" in better chances of getting in.....

do you think I could get in and if you go there or were declined from that school what would you recommend to do???????

TCNJ has been counting just the two parts of the SAT - and last year the average score was 1302. So, I’d say that its a long shot, but who knows, you may do much better when you take it again.

The GPA is not great either, but have you challenged yourself? TCNJ seems to be very interested in this - honors and AP classes.

I know someone who got in early decision with very low SAT scores (1100 at best), and good grades but no AP classes, but TCNJ was interested in his accomplishment of being an eagle scout…so you never know!

Good luck, and if you stay in NJ it depends what you are interested in studying. Rutgers, Ramapo, Rowan and and Montclair St are decent schools.

Yeah, it’s a reach as of now. If you can get you M/CR up to at least 1250+, get your GPA up to a 3.5, get some leadership roles, and apply ED, then I think you have a good shot.

Hey did you apply/ are you going to? You definitely should try at least because it is a great school.

I’ll let you in on a little known secret though. I got in with a 1200 SAT score whereas at the time TCNJ’s acceptance was in the 1400s! My grades in highschool also weren’t exactly stellar. How did I do it? I took a bunch of AP classes and was involved with hs extracurriculars. I also wrote a killer admissions essay and when TCNJ emailed me basically saying they were on the fence about me and wanted to know if I had any last words before their final decision, I gave it everything I had and then some. I ended up getting accepted, and several of my friends who had better grades and better SAT scores did not get in.

I’m a junior now, and to be honest, you may have more of a chance than I did because TCNJ is letting in larger classes now in order to make a little more money (thank you, Governor Christie).
