Can I Get into Texas A&M?

Hey guys! I'm really starting to worry about getting into college, so here's my stats.

I am number 28 in my class, which is the top 6%. This year I will be a senior and I'm hoping my rank will get better because I got all A's my junior year in 3 AP classes, two duel credit, and one pre-ap class.

My unweighted GPA is a 3.6. My weighted GPA is a 5.88 out of 6. (Which will hopefully get better when we get our rankings this year)

I was in a program through junior high, so i have taken many extra science and math courses.

Next year I will be taking AP Calc, AP Physics 2, AP Gov and Economics, and Duel Credit English 4.

At our school we have a duel credit program that gives us college credit through our community college (This credit is accepted into any Texas Public College) and we get the highschool credit as well. Through this community college, I was put on the merit list for having a GPA of above a 3.5 and having 7-11 hours per semester. For college, I have at least 21 hours already done.
I also got a 4 on my AP Statistics exam, so hopefully that will help.

I am in National Honor Society, so I have many volunteer hours.

I was in Environment club for one year.

I played JV soccer for one year, and Varsity for two years.

I have a job where I work at least 20 hours a week.

The reason why I'm nervous about being accepted is because of my SAT and ACT scores.

I got a 1540 on my SAT.
Math: 570
Reading: 460
Writing: 510

I got a 22 on my ACT.
Math: 25
English: 21
Reading: 20
Science: 22

I am obviously more math and science oriented. Right now I am trying to decide if it is worth retaking my SAT. I really suck at these kind of test and am better at real test during school.

I want to go into A&M either undecided, into the College of GeoSciences, into Mechanical Engineering, or into Civil Engineering.

What do you think my chances of getting accepted are?
Any advice?

Everything you guys have to say will help me!
Thanks!

I am not sure, but isnt A&M a public school? Meaning that if youre in the top 10% of your class youre automatically accepted? If I am wrong, then I think if you get your SAT/ACT up youre an awesome candidate. Your GPA/grades and classes are all above their entry level, but you really need those board scores up. I dont think they would keep you out by any means, but for a sure chance I would get an ACT book and study then retake it in October or something.

I don’t think you’ll survive the engineering curriculum. Your SAT 1 score is 1030/1600 but the average at my school (which isn’t prestigious or anything) for engineering to get in is around 1200-1300/1600 for entrance into the program. But these are just predictors and I’ve seen things go the other way. A friend of mine had a 1500/2400 something on his SAT and got into a top engineering school here in California.

My friend got in to Texas A&M as a freshman. I’m sure you’ll get in.

I’ve heard you can get wait listed still being in the top ten percent, but I am not really sure either, thanks though!

I do way better in math and science in school when were learning the material, so I haven’t really thought about having a hard time in the engineering school. I just really sucked at taking the ACT and SATs. Also I’m still not sure if i want to go into engineering or meteorology.

Oh yeah, and my math score on my SAT was better than what you needed for engineering, but I’m not sure about the rest.
