I'm a junior at Memorial High School in Houston, Tx. Texas a&m is my first choice college and i'd love some tips and opinions on my chances of admission!
so far my GPA is a 3.2 and i've taken one SAT (i get the scores back in a few days). I'm not sure if i did very well. I took a PLAN test which is like the PSAT but for the ACT. Below i'm listing my score range and my subject scores:
Composite Score: 18
English: 16
Math: 15
Reading: 24
Science: 16
and my estimated ACT composite score is between 19-23. Granted i took this test over a year ago and I've been studying for the SAT and ACT all through out my junior year. I plan on continuing my studies through out the summer and taking one more SAT the fall of my senior year and taking a couple ACTs. I'd like to get my ACT score to a 30 and have that be the score i send in to colleges. Is this a good idea?
I'm not in any AP classes and i'm in a lower level math class this year. However, my senior year i'm taking two science classes. Will that make up for the not so great remedial math course i took? Thats what my counselor told me. I also have a lot of extra curriculars including
regular volunteering at Houston's many food banks, YMCA swim team, Year book committee, photography, and this summer i'm going to intern at a photography company. Along with my college resume, i was planning on sending in a small portfolio of my photography when i applied. Would that be a good idea? I'm also in the 3rd quarter of my class. What can i do to increase my chances? What are my chances as i am now? thank you for reading, if theres anything i missed please let me know.

If your ACT stays that low I doubt you will be accepted. Keep working and get the gpa/ACT up.
