I live in Florida and plan to apply to Florida State. I am hoping I will be accepted into the honors program there. I have a 4.08 "FSU GPA", a 1990 composite SAT, and a 29 ACT (with a perfect 36 on the english section). I am in the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, Beta Club, Co-Founder of the Law Society, a varsity football player, and have 5 AP classes under my belt. I am also taking 5 more AP classes this upcoming year. I have helped for over a year at my mother's nonprofit organization called Florida Little Dog Rescue. I also have almost 100 hours of community service and am a member of the local Methodist Church. If someone could let me know if this is a solid r

You’d be at the lower end of the average if you did get an invitation.

well i knew my GPA was on the lower end, I thought my test scores would be closer to the middle 50%

Hey guys I’m starting my applications tomorrow so if you could respond that would great! Thanks!

It’s by invitation only, so there’s nothing more you can do than just apply to FSU. If you don’t get an invitation, I think you can appeal.

I’m pretty sure the requirements go down a little bit if you petition, so hopefully I’ll get in then if I don’t get the first invitation.

I’m also the sports editor for my school newspaper, not sure if this will help much.

My GPA with only my math, science, english, social studies, and language courses is a 4.38. How does this look for honors entrance?

Yeah you should be absolutely fine! If they dont invite you, just petition it and you should get in. My friend got in with and 1760 SAT.

Alright thanks for the feedback! I will definitely petition if I don’t get in on the initial acceptance.

You’ll definitely get it… Perhaps you might even get it at UF. lol.

(I’m at UF. I know a lot of people with similar stats to yours)

I’m not counting on the UF honors program, I actually know people with similar stats that got rejected from normal admissions! :/

It’s all about selling yourself. Writing a good essay can make all the difference. (I’m not just talking uf, any school)

It’s not all about grades… it’s presentation as well. I wish you good luck and hope you get everything you want (and work for! :D)
