Can I get into these colleges?

Hi! I’m an IB senior. My uw gpa is a 3.1 and my w gpa is a 5.6. I got a 1300 on the SAT and a 27 on the ACT. I have around 200 service hours and i do a lot of extracurricular activities. I’m on varsity tennis (all years of highschool) and I am team captain this year. I’ve been playing tennis for 8 years. I’ve also been competitively dancing for 10 years. I do a lot more activities and basically I am an all rounder student but with lower grades (in my defense IB is really hard). I don’t know my class rank but I do know im in the 92% in the county. Oh and I have taken many AP classes.

So the schools I’m planning on applying to are UNC Chapel Hill, Boston University, Northeastern, and UCSD - San Diego as my reach schools. University of Miami and University of Florida as my in range. And USF and UCF as my back up. Also I am applying to the 8 year dental program at Nova Southeastern University.

What are my chances into getting into these schools?

My dream is University of Miami so if yall could give your input more on this school, that would be great!

Thank you :))

Calculate your UC GPA for UCSD: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

I am assuming you are OOS for UCSD, so expect to pay full fees at $55K+/Year to attend. No FA for OOS students.

Here is the Freshman profile for UCSD 2016. Aim for at or above the averages for the best chance.

GPA and test scores of middle 25%-75% students

High School UC GPA: 4.00 - 4.27
ACT Composite Score: 28 - 33
SAT Critical Reading: 590 - 720
SAT Mathematics: 630 - 770

What about for Miami?

I’d say U Miami is a reach, but if you write a solid common app essay and have good recs it could offset your lower test scores/gpa, if at all possible, work on raising those test scores! good luck! (look at its sat/act/gpa averages)
