okay so im going to apply to the following schools this year for either mechE or aero-
usc
ucla
uc-irwine
penn state
ohio state
uiuc
michigan-ann arbor
purdue

Stats:-
sat1-1980(cr+m=1350)
sat subject tests-giving in october(will likely get 700+ on math2 and chem)
gpa- im an international student so we dont have a gpa system. my grades in the 10th grade national examination are 95.2%(90+ in all subjects)
my grades in the 11th grade are horrible(69%)
Extra cirriculars:-
4 yrs soccer(captain senior year)
4 years tennis
regional debate competition
creative writing competition
a couple of MUN's(was the director of my schools MUN)came 1st in school in a national science olympiad(253rd in state)

Recommendations-great
so can anyone give me an idea as to whether i will get into any of these schools?
thank you in advance :D

xtremePower im an international and my school doesnt have a gpa system
kldat1 can you tell me the chances for every school in the list?
will my 11th grade dip in marks keep me out of these schools??
in in the top 5%(inspit of a 69% in the 11th) beacuse my school doesnt give good grades to students.
and add uscd to that school list too
ive been told by my counselor that ucla usc and michigan will most probably reject me, i need another persons perspective, so please let me know :D

usc- 86.32%
ucla- 75.435%
uc-irwine- 0% but a 91.08% chance at uc-irvine
penn state- 76.893%
ohio state- 84.12%
uiuc 72.56%
michigan-ann arbor 78.67%
purdue- 79.112%

That’s about as accurate as anyone else will give you, because no one really knows YOUR chance. Good luck, apply to a few engineering schools and you will get in somewhere.

chucktown how can u say this so accurately??
i mean on what logic is your calculation based?
i doubt that i have an equal chance at purdue and michigan:p
and i definitely doubt having an 86.32% chance at usc
so please explain those percentages

Chucktown is pointing out reality through sarcasm (correct me if I’m wrong though, please). Also, don’t use two threads to ask the exact same thing. I noticed that you mentioned your school giving out poor grades in the other thread, but are you not the one who earns them? Penn State and Ohio State are possibilities, but being Asian and international will make it more difficult for you. USC, UCLA, and UMich are basically dream schools.

i actually wrote this thread for the engineering forums but the admin moved it here
i know usc ucla nd umich will be reallly tough to get into and i will be applying to them considering them as reaches
i didnt mention georgia tech uiuc and purdue but would like to know whether i stand a chance to get into these schools
