Hi, I am new here and I'm wondering if I can get into Ole miss, Alabama, South Carolina, or Georgia. I am a male from Texas and I have a 2.5 GPA at a very prestigious private high school. My ACT and SAT scores are both average-below average. My parents both went to Ole Miss and my Mom is a part of the Alumni Association. I also play 2 sports a year and I am very active in a club. I want to major in either journalism or business. I want to go to Ole Miss the most. Can I get into any of these colleges? If not, what do I need to do?

What are those “below-average” ACT and SAT scores?

I think Georgia will be a bit of a reach. Ole Miss and Alabama have pretty low SAT mid-ranges. South Carolina seems pretty easy too. Your GPA is, unfortunately pretty low and you say your test scores are below average.

I’m really sorry but even with a parent alumni and good EC’s you might have a hard time.

I’m hoping you take hard classes (Honors/ APs) because that could be your saving grace.

If you aren’t a senior in high school, get your GPA up and retake your SAT and/ or ACT tests.

If you are a senior, retake the SATs or ACTs ASAP.

If it’s too late for any of that then apply anyway because you never know. Don’t get discouraged. Good luck!

1600 for SAT and 22 ACT

UGA: Reach
U South Carolina: High match
Alabama: Match
Ole Miss: Match

It doesn’t take a genius to get into Ole Miss. Believe me I’m from Mississippi, and the Ole Miss thing is just…funny.
