I'm interested in neuroscience and pre-med. Is the neuroscience and pre-med program any good at UC Berkeley and/or UCLA?

lol you ignoramus. You still don’t get it, do you? How is your thread going to be any different that the ones completely ridiculed in urban dictionary? Will you honestly feel better when people say “Oh your stats are good! You should totally apply!”? If yes, then you have self-esteem issues.

Here, think about it: Think and record about how you felt before posting this thread. Now fast forward time after you posted this thread and you got all the satisfying responses from various high school students who know nothing and old parents who have no notion of 10% admit rates.
Then record how you feel.

Any different? Have you magically felt any better? Let me give you a hint. The answer rhymes with “low.”

All I want to know is if I have the capability of having a chance of being accepted into UC Berkeley or UCLA. If I do not, I would like to improve those chances with replies. I know that not all replies will be great and I have other resources (college counselor, alumni, etc.) to use too.

And why not take the opportunity to post? It’s my future we’re talking here! Anyone can post, not just “elitists and nerds.” This is a place to understand, help, and improve each other. True, there are some that truly make me mad, like they have 2390 SAT and 35 ACT, crapload of EC’s and rewards, and a 5.0 GPA, and they are wondering if they get into Harvard or Princeton. But remember those are competitive schools, and someone like I just described doesn’t get in because someone else plays the trombone better…

I’m sorry for all the rude responses you got here…I’m glad I never got any on my chance thread! People suck sometimes. Anyway, I think your chances of getting into at least one of the two are great. You’ll do fine. Don’t sweat the small stuff. I’d say maybe try o show a little more focus in you ECs? Just make sure you don’t come across as a serial joiner. Write good essays…you’ll be fine :)

Thanks for replying with a constructive comment. =) You say more focus on my EC’s? In what way or area? Also, what do you mean by serial joiner?

Well a serial joiner is someone who joins every sport and club that their school has to offer. you DONT want to be labeled as such in the admissions process. It is good to he multi-faceted, but don’t try to be completely well rounded to the point of showing no focus. I see you play sports, an instrument, participate in medical/science ECs (which is great!), and do a lot of youth-oriented volunteer work. That stuff is great, and it sounds like you are pretty committed to all of it, but it doesn’t necessarily give a picture of who you are. I can’t tell if you’re athletic or artsy or philanthropic or a science geek (in the nicest way). I think you just need to cut out some things that you aren’t as passionate about or maybe consider not including them on your app. Don’t limit the list too much, or adcoms will begin to wonder what you did with all your spare time. But don’t just write down every little thing for the sake of trying to impress people with how much you can do at once. Hope this helps!
