Can I get into UC Berkeley??

I'm going to be a junior in high school and I really want to go to UC Berkeley! I hope to be a corporate lawyer! Do you think I have a chance of getting in?

GPA is 4.333. Rank is currently the top 1%. Hopefully will be at least top 5% for rest of high school.

I haven't taken SATs yet but when I took PSAT at beginning of sophomore year my projected score for the SAT was about 1700-2000. This was before I had studied at all, but a while afterwards, I started studying by taking the SAT Question of the Day and learning some vocab words. I'm taking the PSAT again at the beginning of junior year and should improve a lot, then taking actual SAT towards end of junior year. Also, I scored 90, 94, 96 % higher than other sophomores so I think that was pretty good..

My goal is at least 2100 on the SAT.

I took 2 honors classes freshmen year, 1 honor and 1 AP sophomore year. This has been the most you can take. Next year I am taking the 3 AP classes, the most you can take is 5. Senior year I should take about 4 APs. I think I passed the one AP test I took, and plan to study/try to pass all the tests I take.

The clubs I'm in are National Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation, French Club, and another club that prevents drug/alcohol use in teens. Next year I'm joining Speech and Debate and a community service club. I'm also planning to start a club.

I plan to have at least 300 community service hours by the time I apply. I've done a lot of my volunteering at two places, steadily, so that shows commitment, right?

I'm also planning to sign up with a charity, in which I'll be charge of running clean ups in our area, as well as doing some other things to help environment.

I'm going to have an internship over summer with the district office of my area's congressmen.

Can I get in? What are other schools you'd reccommend for me & which schools could be reach, match, safety schools for me.

P.S. Sorry this is so long!!
And are there any other things that would look good?
And any tips for the SAT, AP tests, etc?

If there is anyone who went to Berkeley, or got accepted/rejected, what were your stats and why do you think you did/did not get in.

Yeah I already posted this twice! lmao sorry about that. new to this site and just found that there is a UC Berkeley section. that would maybe be why my other posts only had 2 replies.

ah =/ anyone?? =(

Here you go: And seriously people will take several days to respond.

You’re not even a junior yet. Don’t worry.
Do well in your junior year, take AP classes, keep up in extracurricular, and take the tests.

If you keep that up you should have a good chance of getting in. What’s your Unweighted GPA though, just for sophomore year? Because freshman year doesn’t matter

4.333 is weighted not including freshmen year.
4.000 unweighted, again not including freshmen year

And sorry I didn’t know it takes so long for people to reply… new to the site

Show interest in the school, go visit, talk to someone in admissions if you can. Your stats look good, but they get a lot of applicants with good SAT scores, GPA, etc. If you do that and write killer essays, I’d say you’ve got a good shot.

But seriously, chill on the college stuff until next year. You never know if your interests will change by then and if you obsess over grades and stuff, you’ll burn out before you even start to apply. Keep your options open and relax!

I think you have a good chance of getting in because of the fact that you want to get in so much and are plotting your plan of action so early. I think if you’re on the right track this soon you should do just fine. Remember that UCs only look at Sophmore and Junior year grades so just tough it out for one more year. (and a 4.0 UW is great haha). Berkeley is large enough to accept all the qualified applicants that apply unlike privates which must deny many people simply because because of size, not merit.

thanks everyone! =)

Dude, don’t worry so much. You’re not even a junior! >___< Just keep your grades up and you’ll be fine.

bump…
