GPA unweighted is 3.3, weighted is 3.9, top 29% of class(terrible freshman and sophomore years). SAT is 2000, reading 660, math 670, writing 690. IB and AP student, 150+ hours if community service, decent awards/achievements. Member of 5 clubs including NHS, administrative positions in two of them. I know my stats aren't the best out there especially for Chicago. However if I write a good enough essay will I have decent chances of getting in? I was also born in a foreign country and am trilingual if that helps.

It can be your reach but you better expand your list!

i think maybe if you had a ridiculously good trend and amazing essays you would have a tiny chance. but probably not with that SAT score

Thanks for the feedback. Uchicago is a huge stretch for me but I think it’s worth a shot. Unfortunately I can’t take any more SAT’s so I’ll just have to take the ACT. I am planning on beefing up my extracurriculars in the next few months and spending as much time as possible on those essays. Hopefully with that they’ll overlook my poor gpa and I’ll at least have a minimal chance of getting accepted. Do you guys know of any other good schools I could get into with my stats, I’m interested in U of Wash(seattle) and NYU but I am open to other suggestions.

UChicago and NYU are unrealistic (sorry). Your grades are too low, your scores are on the low side, your ECs are decent but not even close to good enough to compensate and you currently have no subject tests. I can’t speak to U of Wash.
