SAT: single sitting 2190 (superscore 2260, but UC doesn't count that)
ACT: 33
UC GPA: 4.25 (I think? my normal weighted GPA is 4.6 so I'm not quite sure) unweighted 3.93
Rank: 20/570 (top 5%)
Awards: AP Scholar with Distinction, PSAT Commendation Letter, School Excellence Award, Honor Roll
Extracurriculars: Track and cross country, freshman orientation leader, NHS and CSF, other random clubs. pretty weak I know
My essays were decent-ish. I tend to be hard on myself for things like that. The formatting got totally messed up when I submitted though, which is beyond frustrating. Anyway

Could I get into UCLA? I also applied to UCSD, UCSB, Berkeley, UC Davis, Cal Poly, USC, Northwestern, UDub, and UT. UCLA is definitely my first choice though. Chance me??

UCLA: Match
UCSD: Low match
UCSB: Low match
Berkeley: Match
UCD: Low match
Cal Poly: Safety
USC: Match
NWU: Reach
UWA: Low match (can you pay full-freight?)
UWI: Low match (I wonder which W you mean, Washington or Wisconsin, but I decided to chance you for both)
UT-Austin: Low match/Match

Wow I literally applied to the same first 8 you listed as my only schools! Good luck, I’d agree with the first commenter’s evaluation, however with today’s competition, move everything up one level. I know of a kid last year with a 4.6 that played 3 sports (and had a bunch more extracurricular) and had high test scores and got denied at both UCLA and Cal. You definitely will have options though.

Though the UC system is one of the most coveted and prestigious school systems in the country, a major flaw of theirs is accepting way too many, and often less deserving, California based students over those that apply out of state. I believe the out of state acceptance rate for those applying to UCLA is at a slim 8%, and with so many applicants to that school it’s nearly impossible to gauge one’s admission to such an institution. By your stats, I would assume you would be accepted. You seem to be very qualified, particularly with your weighted GPA of a 4.6 which is astonishing on its own. I can only hope the school sees your potential and accepts you.

Chance me back please: Chance me for Virginia Tech, will chance back

@Techhopeful UCLA’s Out of state acceptance rate is 33% not 8%. Please don’t voice statistics that are blatantly false. To the chancing you will most likely get into most of these schools.

woah, i dont think OP is ‘IN’ to Berkley, NU or UCLA. He’s a good shot at all, high match for Berkley, match for UCLA and low reach for NU. An average essay, teacher rec or a bit of bad luck could easily get him denied from any of those 3 so he’s definitely not ‘in’

Thanks for the honestly everyone, a lot of times I feel like people are too generous with their chancing. I’ve heard so many horror stories about people from my school with far better stats than me getting rejected, so I don’t really want to get my hopes up… although I reeeally hope I get in. And I am a CA resident so hopefully that helps me?
