Major: I want to major in law
So…what are my chances at ucla? Do you think that I have any chance or no chance at all. Answers are appreciated.
Law is not a major. Political science perhsps?
Without test scores it is impossible to gauge your chances. Your GPA is within range and your EC’s look good. Come back with your test scores and then see where you stand.
Thanks for your answer. Much appreciated, and I’ll try my best on my sat!
It’s looking good if you get at least 1500+ on the SAT, and your junior year, taking more science and math AP courses and continuing to get A’s , while keeping up your extracurriculars that you’re currently doing.
If you’re doing an easy major like political science, then you will be fine with lower SAT scores and easier AP classes… I suppose.
law is not a major. and polisci is not a prelaw major and thats prob the #1 mistake non lawyer parents and confused applicants make. you look fine for ucla if you apply to the college of letters and sciences. seeing as to how you want to major in something thats not a major, unless you find a new powerful passion very soon, I’d say just apply undeclared in l&s. in case you’re worried it will hurt your chances going undeclared, it won’t bc they don’t even consider majors when looking at l&s applicants.
as for pursuing your law dreams, you’re probably gonna wanna look toward English or history majors. or, if you know you wanna be a business or corporate lawyer, maybe Econ or business or busecon. prelaw if the TRACK you’ll be on in undergrad and some law schools will require you take certain classes during undergrad to apply there and you’ll need the LSAT, but as for a major youll need, law schools will take any undergrad major.
SUMMARY: my advice, apply undeclared in l&s and you’re looking at a match. do more research on the whole law thing if thats what youre looking for, but take your time. you have 4 years of undergrad that will expose you to plenty of prelaw stuff
