Im a white male student in southern california, and i would like to get into UCLA for economics or something business related.

stats:
3.5 unweighted gpa (not stellar, i know)
3 years basketball for school
2 years ASB LEADERSHIP (PTSA Rep and then Student Body Secretary senior year)
Full IB dilpoma candidate
2100 SAT
Subjects: Not yet taken
BOYS STATE 2008 Delegate
and some other less significant things

What are my chances at UCLA for sometype fo business? I know its like all valedictorians but do i have a chance? PLEASE Respond! THANK YOU!

any other opinions?

What is your UC GPA? But based on this year stats you have very low chances. Someone got rejected from UCSD with higher stats than you last year. 2300+ 3.5 uw GPA. But the ASB helps. UCLA seems to like ASB.

my uc gpa is what i mentioned,3.5, my gpa for privates is a little higher
well that helps, but i know that it is an ultra competitive university, but does the major you choose help your chances, because all of my senior friends who applied declared bio but im doing business

You wrote unweighted GPA, so I assume UC GPA is higher. UC GPA does not take into account of Freshman year. I've heard female engineering has a slight boost and know of a friend's daughter got into Chemical Engineering with not as high GPA. However, my daughter's friend with uw GPA 3.4 and also an engineering major did not make it to UCLA. I think for male, there is no boost in whatever major. There is a small boost for male at LACs.

It's worth a shot, but UCLA is going to be a tough one with a 3.5 UC GPA, even with high SAT scores.

I think you have a good shot, especially because your in state and good sat scores
