Please let me know what are my chances!! thanks in advance

You might want to check out UC Statfinder. It’s not very specific, but based on GPA/ACT you’re probably somewhere north of 60%.

P.S. Math IIC hasn’t existed for several years, so you probably took just Math II

Excellent ACT and UC GPA. Great job. Sat II’s are awesome too.
Overall GPA is solid.

I would say around 65-70% chance of acceptance. Keep up the good work.

I just checked out the Statfinder, it’s a pretty useful tool.

Do you personally think I’m somewhere north of 60%?

emilsinclair: thank you for the post, I really appreciate it =)

You’re welcome. I’m trying to get into UCLA as well as a transfer student. (Psychology major). Hopefully we’ll both get in where we want to next April. Is UCLA your first choice? I would definitely apply to Berkeley and UCSD (as a safety) too.

Frankly, I would be shocked if you didn’t get in to at least 2 of the above.

To be honest I still have a mindset that I had sophomore/junior year where I thought it would be impossible for me to get into a good university, but then my ACT score really opened up doors for me. Up until this point, I didnt think I had any chance at all for UCLA, so I don’t really have a place for it in my college choices…

I don’t have much hope for Berkeley, but I think I have a good shot at UCSD.

yeah if you did half decent on your essays you should be good

Oh, the unwavering optimism of the UC applicant lmao. One thing I learned when applying: you’ll get over your shock real fast, because a lot of people you thought would get in, didn’t.

That being said, I think you have a good chance. I am very confused as to whether you’re applying to L&S or Samueli though, because those are two different schools at UCLA, and you can only apply to one…

think_different: I hear you on the unwavering optimism haha. I try to stay pessimist so that if I do get rejected it won’t feel too bad

for the major choice, on the UC App it lets you select a major and then an alternate major

so
major: Microbiology/Immunology/Molecular Biology (pre-major)
alternate major: Electrical Engineering

Do you think my chances differ for the two majors? Am I more likely to get into one major than another? (if at all)

A good essay and you should be in! Great job!

Your ACT is like saying a 2300 SAT.
YOUR in UCLA.
And have a good chance at Berkeley.
IB Diplomas, high GPA, high SAT II’s, and a 35 ACT.
I don’t know why your not trying even more schools.

i think you should apply to harvard

Says a high school student that is going to Arizona next year. I mean seriously?

@ThisCouldBeHeavn

YOU’RE right.

yeah, my GPA is not high at all haha. Pretty low to be honest =/
I’m hoping my ACT/SAT subject test scores can balance it out

lol and no i’m not applying to harvard. I might as well just pay them the application fee and walk away haha

Enemy: I could be mistaken, but I’m pretty certain what they mean is that you apply to a major and then an alternate major within the same school (e.g. Letters and Science: 1- MIMG, 2- PhySci; OR, Samueli: 1- EE, 2- CS).

Again, I could be wrong, but I’ve never heard of anyone getting into one over the other, or both. I also seem to remember asking one of my friends, a MechE major, if she could have applied to L&S as well, and I thought she said no. From the admissions website:

Sorry I can’t be of more help- you may want to call and clarify. Good luck!

Snap…my understanding of the primary major/ alternate major was that the adcoms will first evaluate you for your primary major, and if you get in for that then you’re in and they disregard your alternate major. If you get rejected from primary major however, then they will evaluate you for your alternate major. They reserve the right to not evaluate you for your alternate major (if your stats are really bad and they know for sure you can’t get in)

But now I have doubts after what you guys said. I think I’ll give them a call I guess?

thanks for the responses guys!
