hi my name is Jacob, I’m currently going into my junior year of school and have a 3.1765 GPA to this point, I live in-state so I know that’s supposed to help but I’m still not sure, I’ve been taking all honors classes since 9th grade and will be taking 3 AP’s next year, I’ve yet to take my ACT’s or SAT but my PLAN test predicted id score a 24 on the ACT. I play 2 sports and am part of my schools Board of Trustees along with their community service organization, i also dont know how ethnicity would play into admissions ut i am black, I Know ill have to bring my GPA up but im really just wondering if UNC is a realistic goal or not.
UNC-Chapel Hill is a very difficult school to get into for a public university. Just looking at some quick statistics, 80% of their incoming class graduated in the top 10 percent of their High School class. Their 25th - 75th percentile ACT score is 28-32, and their SAT is 1780-2100. Without an actual ACT or SAT score it’s difficult, but given that your GPA probably isn’t in the top 10% of your class, I would guess that you would have to work very hard your 2 remaining years and score probably at least a 27 or 28 on your ACT to have a chance. Good luck.
Ill be honest with u, u have no chance to get in unless u get ur ACT to a 30 + and have an amazing junior year.

First off, don’t state your name on College Confidential. Secondly, you’re going to have to have a spectacular junior year (straight A’s) to bring up your GPA as much as possible if you want to have a chance. Also, study as hard as you can to bring your ACT to a 30+. Take as many practice tests as you can for the ACT and work your tail off next year to have a shot at Chapel Hill.
