I really want to get into UNC-Chapel Hill as an out of state student. Every year my grades have been all As with one B. Last year I took AP Lang (A-) and AP Euro History (A+) and I got 5 on both of the AP tests. My GPA is 3.8 unweighted and 4.17 weighted on a 4.0 scale. My class rank is 18 of 289. I am a member of a mentoring program and National Honor Society. I also play baseball. On my best SAT test date I got 660 on reading, 620 on math and 630 on writing with a total of 1910. I got a 28 on the ACT. In college I plan to major in Political Science and do Air Force ROTC. I know this is a very selective school so please help me know if this is a realistic goal or a total fantasy. Thank you!

If you bump up your SAT and/or ACT up a little bit, you’ll have a VERY strong chance at Chapel Hill :)

This might not sound very encouraging, but I got into UNC chapel-hill with:
3.12 GPA
2160 SAT I
710 Chem & 660 Math II
140 hours clocked in at hospital along with 300 total volunteer hours.
MA residence.

I think the reason I got in was because I applied as an Albanian Language major, and I was born and raised in Albania until I was six and so I speak fluent Albanian.

However in the end I decided to go to Boston College

But my advice is get your SAT’s up, and if you are dying to get in, then apply to a major that is not very popular, public school have to fill up those spots, so if they have x amount of spots and not many people apply then you’re in

Good luck though.

Oh I just graduated High School by the way so this is very recent, and I applied RD. So Ill be going to BC this coming Fall.
