Can I get into USC

So i just applied to USC today as a transfer student. I have completed one semester at the University at Albany with a 3.74 GPA as a physics major. Also I have 13 college credits from high school, all with high b's and a's. I really want to do mechanical engineering which Albany does not offer. My high school GPA was an 88.6 and my SAT score was not well, in fact a 550 on the math and a 520 on the reading :-(. Does anyone think i have a good chance of getting in, by the way i wrote a really good essay? Also, will they even look at my SAT or highschool because after this semester I will have 41 credits?

Unfortunately, I would say probably not.

you'll need a much higher sat math score to want to major in engineering. I'd suggest taking the SAT's again, that would greatly improve your chances.

no im a transfer student, I dont even know if they will look at my SAT scores cause after this semester I will have over 30 credits.

Does anyone know if they will look at my SAT scores? or if I might have a slight shot. Also I applied to NCSU, what are my chances there?

sorry kid USC is tough and the SATs are too low

chance me back at

They claim that they won't look at the SATs once 30 units are completed--but having higher ones (at least at the school average, which is around 1940) is a positive is showing that you can handle the work they are going to be giving you. Plus, realize that you are applying with less than 30 units right now--meaning that you were required to give the SAT scores in your application--and they will really hurt you.

With a 3.74 GPA, you have a chance at Viterbi since the admitted transfer GPA averages around 3.6 to 3.7. However, your 3.74 GPA is based upon just one semester, so you'll need to get at least a 3.65 or so this semester also. Plus, you didn't say whether or not you've already taken the basics (like the basic english composition class and an advanced writing class, or some of the Category I through IV category classes).

All in all, your chances are not good right now--but you would have good chances if you can keep the GPA up and reapply during your sophomore year.

Good luck.

yeah I do have every minimum requirement fulfilled, I also applied to NC state university... you think I might have a shot there?
