Can I get into UVA?

hello guys I am a junior in high school and I am really worried about college, particularly my chances of getting into UVA. I slacked off in 8th grade(where I took algebra 1 and Spanish) and freshman year and that brought my GPA kind of down to a 3.74 I did better in sophomore year with a 3.97 and got up to a 3.85 which is where I stand now. Junior year I'm doing even better and I hope to average a 4.1 GPA in junior year which should bring my overall up to a 3.95 and then my first semester of senior year should be just enough to get me a 4.02-4.03 which is probably the GPA I am going to submit.

so my GPA would be:4.02
My SAT:2100
I have done robotics club for 2 years
I am in math,Spanish, science, history, and English honor society
I tutor kids for 90 minutes every Saturday at my school
I have ran track for 3 years
I participated in science fair at my school
I did an internship at NOVA hospital for a summer
I also will take 5 years of spanish(currently at 4,5 in senior year)
I did a club called hope for the homeless where I volunteered packing food for homeless people

I've also taken the highest level difficulty course offered for all the core subjects. Honors up to sophomore year and then 6 AP's in junior year.

My AP's are AP:world,lang,bio,calc ab,comp sci,US history
senior year AP's(next year):lit,gov,calc bc,phsyche,physics C
I will end with 11 AP's taken total during highschool

I am instate

*On a sidenote I was wondering if VTECH could be considered a safety with my credentials?

Thanks for your help

bumppppppp

For UVa - it could go either way, but I would probably say vt is a safety for you as long as you aren’t applying to the engineering school

Your weighted GPA could be a little higher, but it isn’t so bad. I would call Virginia a high match. I would consider VT a low match to safety.

Thanks any other suggestions/comments?

bumppppppppppp

I have similar stats (4.06 cumulative GPA, worse test scores), in state and was accepted EA this January…only difference is leadership positions. You look like you have good chances at UVA as long as essays look good and GPA continues to rise.

Ok thanks!

Buuumpppppp

keep the GPA increasing and take the SAT again 2100 is a bit low

Look at the Naviance data for your high school. You’ll see where you fall among kids who applied to those schools in the past and it will give you a good idea about your chances.

oh well but I know some kids with like a 1980 sat and a 3.9 gpa who got in

It’s not where students got in that are the concern, but where the rejections start. You have to understand that those on the lower end of the scale that are mysteriously getting in when most points show rejection have some hook like legacy, URM, etc. You want to find the accept clusters.
