Hi. I’m a senior right now applying for college. Vandy is one of my first choices, but i’m not applying there ED though. I kinda wanna wait for regular so that I’ll have the privilege to choose. My scores are really not that high though. I’ve a 4.0 GPA but only a 1440 on the New Sat. i’ve good everything else but SAT. I’ve great recommendations and many great activities. My SAT 2 are all above 750 and I’ve taken 3 AP and scored all 5. Actually the problem with the SAT is just the reading score 670. I’ve a 770 for math. I don’t know if I’ll have a chance given the fact that I can also get a great letter of recommendation from a prestigious Vandy professor who’s known me for a long time. If anyone’s familiar with the process, please let me know if I have a chance and how the professor’s recommendation can possibly affect my APP. Thanks.
No
I have a letter of rec from a dean at Boston College. At least there, what he said was his LOR didn’t do anything other than ensuring my application gets looked at. It’s probably a similar thing at Vandy.
You do not seem like a competitive candidate for Vanderbilt, except for the professor’s recommendation.
especially because you’re not applying ED
That’s so sad but why?? I feel like the only thing that I don’t have is a good SAT reading score. I’ve several other advantages like speaking four languages, the founder of many clubs, and Class rep. I’ve studied abroad in three countries and did long-term volunteer work in Morocco, Greece and Korea. Is it just because of my low SAT reading score?
you left that information out, it’s a reach for everyone also. I think you have a decent shot.
Yea I agree. Vandy has become very competitive lately. And I would certainly consider it as a long shot. I would be very grateful if I get in.
