I have a weighted GPA of 4.5. I will have taken 3 AP classes junior year and 4 senior year. I am an entering senior. I have SAT scores of: Critical Reading 740, Math 800, Writing 800. I also took the ACT and have a 35.

Extracurriculars include jazz and marching bands, jazz ensemble, National Honor Society, National Honor Society Executive Board, Debate Club, Ultimate Frisbee Varsity team, Film Club, Principal's Leadership Team, and alot of community service, including organizing a neighborhood charity drive.

What do you think my chances are to get into Wesleyan? I also have published several poems and was chosen for Boys Sate.

You seem like a very competitive applicant, but there’s no way to decide your “chances” or say how likely it is or isn’t that you’ll get accepted. Keep up your grades and continuing doing things you love. And writing a compelling essay that displays who you are is important. Your scores are above average and your extra-curriculars seem impressive. The only advice I can give you is to continue doing what you’re doing, continue pushing yourself, and find ways to let your personality out in your application. Wesleyan is looking for people, not just numbers, so the process is far more subjective than glancing at a list of numbers and activities. But I can say that you are definitely a competitive applicant with a chance of getting in (this coming from someone who doesn’t actually know you, so take this with a grain of salt). Good luck with the college process, and as someone who’s just been through it, the best advice I can give you is to breathe a bit and not stress too hard–things tend to work out well.

Thank you for your input. I really appreciate your advice.

very high but as with many top-ranked schools, they’ve been known to say no to exceptional stats as yourself and yes to the average joe.

You have higher stats than me and I got in as an international student asking for aid (3.5% acceptance rate). Your ECs also seem pretty good. I’d say you have a fantastic chance if you manage to submit a fantastic essay.

Random advice:
I’m not sure if Wes will be requiring a supplement to the Common App this year, but they didn’t last year, so I sent in a pretty quirky additional letter (I’m pretty sure I got in because of it). So, if you feel like there’s something you’d like to say to Wes that wasn’t in your Common App essay, I think a letter is a great way to do that and to also show that you’re really interested in Wes.

wesleyan sounds realy nice but everybody in my school who has gotten into wesleyan have super high stats
does ed help alot?

You have a 2340 SAT I score and a 35 ACT. Do you really need to ask if you have a chance?

If you have a good enough SAT/ACT, strong SAT IIs (depending on the school), and decent ECs, it will almost always depend on the recs/essays/interviews. You can check the scores yourself and the ECs are subjective anyway, so why the need to ask for a chance?
