Can I get into Wharton?

I'm a high school senior and I applied early to Wharton.

I have a 4.87/5 GPA. I've gotten two B's in high school, one in AP english junior year the other in Algebra 2 sophmore year. This year for the first quarter I got A's in all classes (AP Lit, AB Calc, AP Stat, AP Gov, AP Spanish, Honors Philosophy).

2240 SAT's. 800 writing, 750 reading, 690 math.

Both parents went to Penn.

I started my own food blog three years ago and it has grown to relative popularity 400-600 views/day.

For four years for 8 hours a day on Sundays I've apprenticed at a 4 star restaurant in Philadelphia.

I run my own small business on the side, cooking dinner parties and catering events.

I'm the business manager for my school newspaper.

What are my chances of getting in?

I’d say you have pretty good chances besides your SAT Math score
What about your subject test scores? Are you applying ED?

sat subjects: Spanish 690. math1 730. chemistry 710. us history 750

I am applying early decision

Double legacy. You’re in.

^I don’t know 690 is really really low for Wharton… if that was a 700 I’d be much more comfortable but a 690 makes it not an auto-in… not impossible but I’m actually going to have to go with significant reach…

will the 730 on math 1 help with that at all

You sound like a freaking ■■■■■. Double legacy to ANY school = basically getting in.

yeah, chances are pretty high due to hook~

otherwise stats are fine but kinda mixed feelings about the ec’s. Could be meaningful if expounded upon well but otherwise may not have much weight.

Only about 35%-40% of legacies are admitted to Penn; so I would not consider you a shoe-in. Granted, you are a double legacy, so your chances are higher. Your business related EC’s will help, but as other posters stated, a 690 on SAT Math (especially for Wharton) will not look especially good. However, I would say you have a very strong chance of admittance, even with your low Math score.
