So, I'm thinking of applying to William and Mary. I visited and it looks like a great campus. Here's my stats.........

White Female
Out of State - Delaware
Class Rank - 15/266
GPA - Weighted 5.2 Unweighted 3.8

SATS - 1980 (combined from 5 tries)
ACTS - 27

Classes:
Ap Calc AB - 3, AP Calc BC - n/a, AP Physics B - n/a, AP Microeconomics - 3, AP United States History n/a, AP English Language - 3, AP English Literature - n/a, AP European History - 2

Just for a little perspective: my out of state daughter was waitlisted last spring
with a 1430 SAT, SATll of 700, 740,760, top 3% of class over 500, all AP and honors, and 4 year participation in 4 major activities. No state or national awards. Eventually got off the waitlist but you need to know that the competition for out of state students is fierce. She applied regular decision.

i don't know about out-of-state....but a lot my friends applied ed (we're in-state) and they all seem to be getting in, most w/ lower creds than you, or about the same. so seems like you have a pretty good shot, from what i'm seeing w/ other people. i'm hoping i have a good shot too! (regular decision). good luck!

Your scores are too low...I have a 2110 and a 31, and I don't think I'll get in (I'm out of state from New Jersey). It's so competitive out of state. No offense, but I'm thinking you'll get rejected.

my SATs are right in the 50% and they don't look at AP scores till later (i thought..)
personlly, I think you guys are too hard on the people that post on this website.. I know a few kids who have gotten in with scores that are "too low" and "not great applications".. college applications aren't entirely test scores and it seems like alot of people here think that they are..

"So, I'm thinking of applying to William and Mary."

On December 18, 2005, crunkjuice posted:

"I got in."

So how can you be thinking of applying to William and Mary if you had already sent the application in by November 1st? Just kinda confused right now on what you actually mean.

Trust me, Crunkjuice didn't get accepted to William and Mary.............she didn't apply early action................. my guess is she'll be crunking somewhere else. By the way, we're doing a lot more studying than crunking at W&M. Her post was transparent.

Actually, she goes to my school. And she got in ED.

She posted her stats on here after she was accepted just to see what the people on this site would say. I have to agree with her. You people are jerks.

yeah, you're crap out of 271 all right!!!! Go Tribe. How can you be thinking about applying to William and Mary on the 2nd of December for ED, when apps were due in by the 1st of November. It's obvious that you two go to the same school. Crunk on crunksters!

well...if people on this site are too hard on people, i must be a special case.

I applied early to William and Mary:

No offense, but if you included this, it's probably why you got deffered. I saw a presentation by an admissions rep. at w&m and he said there isn't much that the committee dislikes more than "rouge stats". With that being said, there is no hope for me. Where do you live in VA? Did you intern with Deeds? I am VERY surprised you got deffered, good luck where ever you go.

samueladams69 is right..
i did post my stats after i was accepted. i spent all of november on this site getting extremely worked up over the things that people said about other applicants. i was convinced that my letter would include an appology - "we're sorry that we cannot accept you to our college" - all because of the things i read on this forum about other people.

all i was trying to do by acting like i hadn't gotten in was make a point. you're right, i could have said "i applied and what do you think my chances are" but that would have made the comments stop after the ED letters were all mailed. sorry for the miscommunication.

just like you all have your oppinions of the people on this website, the admissions committee has their own opinions of the applicants. the opinions are obviously very different. we can all say how we think our essays were, or how good our recommendations are.. but we have no idea how the admissions committee looks at them. our stats may be comparable, but maybe one of us keeps a steady job and is involved with many (in depth) activities while others just dabble in senior year extracurriculars.

and i like the comments about my username. its funny how people judge based on some words thrown together. i bet if any of you really knew me, i wouldn't have been picked a part in the past few replies.

anyway, i guess i'll see some of you in september. hey pedsox! see if you can pick me out: i'm the one that drinks all the time and never studies - because that is actually the definition of crunkjuice. you're right, i probably won't fit in at wm. good luck finding me.

i dont think you approached this in the best manner though. yeah, i had a post up during september asking what my chances were at william/mary, and only one poster said i had a chance, while the others said no way, so i was pretty much in the same situation that you were in. however, the way i went about dealing with it was just by believing in myself. if i made it, awesome. if i didnt, then well, i can always try again regular. you shouldnt let other people get you down or discourage you from trying. just something i learned from my choir teacher last year.

i hope you dont generalize about all the people on collegeconfidential just because of what a few people said to you. most of us are just relaxed and cool (hopefully, by now, you dont dislike me :)).

on a last note, good job on making it to william and mary!
