Can i get into WVU?

I currently go to Community college in Jersey, I just finished my first semester there, and completed 17 credits. by the end of spring semester I will have completed 32 credits. My GPA right now is a 3.5. Im on the deans list. I recently just applied to WVU. My high school grades aren't the best , i believe my gpa was about 3.2 or a little higher in high school. My sat scores are a 1340 on all three parts, which i dont think i have to send them anyway. Can i get into WVU for fall 2011? I also had to take 3 remedial classes, which means 10 of my credits completed are those, can i get in , i believe transfer accepantce rate is 90%.

If the transfer acceptance rate is 90% then you probably have a good chance. You might want to find out whether the requirements are higher for someone out of state though.

You’ll get in.

bumppppppp

your chances look pretty good! i think you should try to aim for better schools than WVU…

yeah WVU is like the arizona state of the east, pretty much if you have a pulse you will get in
you live in new jersey why dont you try to apply to rutgers or something. its 10x better and you will be paying a lot less

yehhh i did apply to Rutgers and also University Delaware , just haven’t heard back from them, and also I like WVu for many reasons also.

WVU is a great party school, but it is in the middle of nowhere and it’s just party and party.

You’ll get in for sure, think its like a 2.5gpa

well i just submitted my app and materials in last week, so i should be hearing back in a couple weeks i would think, and yeh i know its a huge party school, and also i like that they have good sports teams

Update, So I called Wvu to check my application status out, they said they could not accept me right now due to because i don’t have enough credits that transfer and H.S requirements, this is because of my remedial classes that I had to take, but they said they will Revaluate my application once I finish my spring semester ,my grades I will probably get a 3.5 or higher this semester.Ok So will they admit me once I send my spring transcript it , saying that I will have 22 transferable credits and a 3.5 gpa

You can do better than WVU. WVU is where people with 2.5 GPAs apply to. You’re definitely going to get accepted. They’ll take any sucker that is willing to pay their out-of-state tuition.

Don’t go to WVU, dude. Go to Rutgers. Do you want to go to a college to party and root for a good football team, or do you want to go to a college to get a degree that’ll actually be worth something?

WVU sucks. It’s as low as a four year state school can possibly go. Don’t do it bro.

NjCollegeBoy trust me I do like Rutgers but i havent heard anything back yet, but still i understand wvu is not that great of a school, trust me if i get into Rutgers i will go there instead of Wvu. But if WVU only accepts me I going to go there, what college do you go to?

WVU has a 99.9999% acceptance rate…i think you should be ok…

I had my reservations about my son going to WVU, because of the same perceptions that NJCollegeBoy has. However, it has turned out to be a great choice, and the academics are challenging. We live in Maryland, and although my son had decent high school grades, honors and GT courses, and well above average SATs, he did not have the 4.0 necessary to get into UMCP (he actually didn’t apply, but I don’t think he would have gotten in. UMCP has just gotten very selective). He could have gone to UMBC but the school spirit is just not there, and when we visited Morgantown he really liked it. Yes, the acceptance rate at WVU is high, but to stay there and graduate you are going to have to put in the work. It actually has a low out of state tuition comparably. And for some reason, there seems to be a lot of kids from Jersey there. Definitely give WVU a close look.

Also to note, WVU says on college board they accept courses with Ds for transfer credit.

kayf, I think that would depend on the course. Courses that are prerequisites for other courses usually need to be a C.

thank you for your responses, well i called up wvu again today, and she said if i pass all my classes this semester, i will get accepted, I am doing very good this semester, so it looks like im gonna go to WVU…
