Gibby can you compare Michael jordan’s achievements with eminem’s achievements? I really don’t see how someone could rate one over the other.

As someone from the Commonwealth, I think that professional level commentary (if it’s truly professional level) in cricket is a wow factor. Sure, most international students who apply have wow factors. But in India, if you’re interested in sports commentary, you can’t do anything which is a bigger deal than cricket. I cannot emphasize enough how big a deal cricket is in other parts of the world. It’s like American football and basketball combined in a lot of Commonwealth countries. The skills from commentary (though not the knowledge) are transferable to other sports or pursuits. Anything that requires you to present publicly benefits from the skills in sports commentary. The OP is not simply being involved in cricket at a high school or regional level. He’s already launching himself into a professional career, whether or not he ultimately decides to pursue it.

That said, your academics are a bit lackluster. Make sure that your SATs are very strong to show your academic potential. SATs usually aren’t that important beyond a point, but the admissions officers will probably be unfamiliar with your grading system and you don’t want to give them reason to doubt you.

Thanks schrodingerscat! That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to explain. Yes I’m aware of my mediocre academics. Working my ass off for the Oct SAT.

Honestly, and I hate to say this but your chances are slim. Yes, you would bring something unique to the school, but because of your low stats it would lower the schools, and colleges don’t want that; their goal each year is to beat the last in selectivity, GPA, test scores, etc. While your whole cricket thing is cool, you can’t be recruited for it so it is equal to any other extracurricular. You have clearly excelled at it but honestly a whole essay on cricket will be pretty boring considering most people in the U.S. don’t understand it at all. I’m not saying you have no chance at getting in, but it is a top college, grades come first.
