Hi ..Guys I want to know if i get it 1600 or 1700 on the sat score to apply Penn state
is they will accept me ? beside i have talk sat before .. it's so awful .. so i already graduate
in june 2013 in high school . now i want to retake sat in Oct .. is there any chance go to penn state
main campus ?

GPA is 2/3 of the way to PSU main campus, so reach/high reach already. What you can do, is go to a PSU branch campus and transfer to UP a year or two into college.

^that would be the best bet. Or CC to raise that gpa

Any reasons your GPA is so low? Anything you can explain to them about? Otherwise you have a very low chance.

well . I am live in NY bk
because I have go wrong school 'that high school is in Chinatown
and effect my GPA very well …plus everyone is speak Chinese
my other friend who attend that school has go to community college
even just few go to 4 year college… i am so sad about that high school

but i just in that school and transform better school … now i graduate high school on June 2013 . this school is better than my previous high school

You’ll have to go to a community college.

No I don’t want go to. community
college

I just want retake sat again plz
Guys

And I don’t want to have back surgery. But life is life.

If your english is this bad already, you won’t get a 1700 on your SAT.

To have a chance at main campus you need 3.5Gpa + 1750 sat. not very likely. if you can go to community college for a year you could try and get a 4.0 to ‘erase’ that high school gpa then transfer to a branch campus. If you do well on the branch campus you can then go to University Park to complete your upper level ‘major’ classes. To go to a branch campus straight after high school you need 2.8 and 1500 or so.

If I really get it 1600 or 1700 sat score
Is I have chance go in
I will explain my GPA to them

Well guy the real reason is I have been take to hospital in that awful high school.in Chinatown, it’s was nightmare anyway, they said I have psychology problem then I confine
There 3 month, so I missing the regent and then when I out there no chance to repair my GPA, poor me. The school also is not very good, kind small
So after I have good other high school for two year. After I graduate this school
So this school is more better then my previous HS, , now I really want to psu, ,is there any chance, ,thx

You want up to lie and say there is a chance. the answer is no . PSU is not holistic. your explanation does not matter- to have a chance at PSU UP you need a minimum 3.5GPA and a minimum 1750 sat. Just 1750 is not enough. Even with a 2400 you can’t get in with a 2.0. To have a shot at a branch campus you need a 2.8 and 1400-1600 sat. After you complete requirements at a branch campus you can go to UP but with a 2.0 you’d need 1700 for a branch campus and even that may not be enough.

I’m sorry, but it’s not going to happen. Like others said, try a year or two in community college. Then, if you get good grades, you can try transferring.

Oh dear, going to Chinese school is not an excuse. There are immigrant kids (like me!) who speak/read/write English fluently like kids who were born here and excel in the most challenging classes at school. Even if you get 1600 or 1700, PSU is still high reach. My friend who got into PSU (although it was his safety school) got 35 on ACT (that’s like 2300 on SAT), and guess what? He grew up in Korea. He only lived in Canada for two years before. So PSU won’t take “going to Chinese school” as a sound excuse.

And you said you live in NY? There are some okay CUNY community colleges out there. You probably won’t get into PSU, and even if you do, you will fail the classes (Your English isn’t good enough). Some of my friends chose to go to CUNY because they just couldn’t afford 4-year college for four years. They got 3.9 GPA for two years, and now they’re transfering to Baruch and Hunter. Going to community college may not sound intriguing, but as someone already said above, that’s life. And it’s better for you to spend two years at community college with less challenging classes, because you really need time to catch up your English.

Everyone’s saying no, because there really is no chance. Even if you have a hook, your English isn’t good enough to follow the curriculum… No college will take a student who cannot follow their courses.

You aren’t here to ask a question but to hear something that’s sounds sweet to you… But that’s gonna be a lie…

Think of it this way ~ they will feed your stats into the computer ~ gpa & sat ~ and you will be an “automatic reject”.

It’s not going to happen ~ it’s done by stats.

I’m sorry. As others have mentioned, they may offer you a branch campus. Otherwise look for other possibilities.

Perhaps there are other colleges you might want to attend that would not be high reaches:

WVU

U Louisiana-Lafayette

U Missouri (if you can somehow achieve 1100+ CR+M it becomes a safety)

Going to community college is not a punishment or a shameful thing. It is an opportunity for you to acquire basic skills and learn what you need to succeed in a four year college. Many people have done this. Unfortunately many people who start at four year colleges do not finish. It really is in your best interest to get a solid preparation.

No! My English is good. I just don’t want other people bother me, I
can understand English

TV and movie very well, wait I am very introverted people , so I actually know English
Since I have been here 4 year half, so yes I know English

So you guys don’t judge my English
Because you guys don’t know me
My GPA is terrible, I knew it because the wrong school
So I know every mistake is lesson.
But I will to explain my GPA to them
