I have a 3.37 California GPA but perfect standardized testing scores and good ec’s can I still apply and have any chance of admission to ucsd
By California GPA, you mean the UC GPA? Did you calculate using this link? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
UC’s do not round up, so if you are below a 3.4 UC GPA capped weighted, then you are not eligible to apply.
Also if you are at the minimum UC GPA, your best chances at a UC would be Merced and Riverside. I am not sure you would want to pay $55K/year to attend since no FA is available for OOS students.
UC’s are very GPA focused so having great test scores does not make up for a lower than average GPA.
Freshman admit rate for UC GPA of 3.4-3.79 at UCSD was 6%. For 3.0-3.39, it was 1%.
As @Gumbymom has indicated, if you aren’t at a 3.4 when you apply, you will be considered ineligible for admission as an OOS. GPA is king. You have to show that you can do well in classes, not just in testing. The colleges want to see you play nice in your classes. If you are struggling with the courses, then you may struggle in your classes, to meet the project requirements. Test scores are one component, but without the class GPA to back those up, you will be stuck.
3.4 is a hard floor for OOS UC applicants.
