I have a 3.95 uw and a 33 ACT. I have solid extra curriculars w/ community service and reaserch. 4 year varsity athlete and leadership positions. Will apply ED or EA. Do I have the same chances of getting merit money for ED and EA?
Thanks a lot!
I think as long as you show interest and visit campus and email your rep that Tulane is your #1 school, you will get merit money with applying EA. It sounds like you’ll for sure get in if you ED, but most of the time ED doesn’t give large merit money because they don’t need to “entice you” to come
I believe you can. My son showed a lot of interest – visit, HS visit, college fair, interview – and applied EA. He was offered $96,000, which he turned down for ED at another school. His stats were not as high as yours. Good luck!
I agree with above. Apply EA to maximize your merit potential. Also try visiting before you apply and demonstrate as much interest as possible.
Thanks! I’m interviewing and I’ve already visited but visiting again. I’ve also met my admissions counselor, and I’m gonna work really hard on my Why Tulane Essay!
Agree with the other helpful responses. I’d say the “Why Tulane” is the most important thing you can do at this point. You’ve already done the other things to show them you’re interested and you certainly have the stats. I’d agree there’s no need to apply ED, but certainly do the EA. Keep in mind that there are two “waves” (pardon the Tulane pun) of scholarship aid based on our experience. The first is what you are offered when you get your acceptance letter. The second is what is in the financial aid package. In the FA package my daughter received a second “scholarship”. It might actually be a grant but as long as she doesn’t have to pay it back I don’t care what they call it!
