Can I get my counselor to submit all the school forms before I submit my application?

Check with the relevant admissions offices; some will make a file when they receive any materials for an international applicant, I think, while most won’t make a file for you until you submit your application and payment (hence the school forms will not be accepted if mailed) - if you are applying online, and your counselor is submitting online via Common App or similar, then it won’t matter, as the file will remain online until colleges choose to download it.

The colleges will accept the forms and start a file from when they get any application info from students. This also is true for scores. However, many counselors won’t do what you’re asking because they know that they may be wasting their time since often students change their minds about where they will apply. That’s why many counselors want students’ part of applications to be complete before the counselors send their info.

As noted, colleges set up file when they receive any applicable materials for admission but check high school as to what it will do. Also, based on the implication of your question, you should instead try to get your application done rather than waiting until December 31 or January 1 to finish it when the deadline is January 1.

Warning: Virtually all colleges’ servers have problems on the date that applications are due. It’s normal for the servers to crash – a big reason why you need to get your app in earlier than the deadline.

At my d’s school, the students are asked to turn in a slip for every school they plan to apply to, and the counselors and office staff handle sending in all the necessary info (transcripts, LOR’s, etc). Too many students procrastinate and send in their materials at the last minute. The school staff won’t do that. I remember reading posts from last year where posters said that colleges emailed the students who had incomplete files encouraging them to finish their application. That says to me that they have files on these kids, even if they are incomplete. Good luck.

For this one school, I got my counselor to send the school forms then submitted appliation like three weeks after…so I am fine?
btw, thanks a lot for replying!!!:)
